[Hell Awaits Us All]

so yea, today in school - I showed 3 of my buddies a couple of songs by behemoth, a song by bloodbath, and a song by necrophagist

1 of these guys is more of a punk/limited metal guy, the other 2 listen to mainstream hard rock/metal

all 3 of them LOVED IT, lol - they all loved behemoth especially - I was real skeptical showing them these songs but it was pretty amazing to see their reaction

stuff like this leads me to believe that DM would be popular if people were exposed to it at all - it's just that DM is incredibly underground, and the only DM that people hear are cannibal corpse and deicide - two really mediocre gimmicky DM bands - and people think that all of DM is stupid immature BS like those 2 bands

I once was innocent enough to believe the same thing. I let my mainstream rock listening friend listen to Roswell 47 by Hypocrisy, quite possibly one of the most easily digestible death metal songs (still awesome ). He didn't like it. It shattered my metal innocence.

Well, I find it surprising they liked it. You usually have to ease people into metal. More extreme metal along the lines of the bands you mentioned are usually an aquired taste.

nah it was just weird... I threw them in the proverbial fire with some pretty extreme bands and they absolutely loved it

if you gave young person in the country who enjoys instrumentals a CD by behemoth and perhaps nile - I think DM would be VERY popular

they're just never exposed to it anywhere and you really have to dig deep to find it

Hell I hated DM because I used to think all of DM was like cannibal corpse

then soon I found morbid angel and I was hooked to DM

I'm VERY open-minded about music

I'm not trying to "shove my interests" on other people - just showing them something that they might enjoy

hell if somebody didn't "shove" metallica and pantera about a year ago onto me - I would still be listening to shitty bands like mudvayne and korn
