JENS BOGREN - my new hero

Metaltastic if you want the ghost reveries tone, my guess is the largest factors are the G12K100s and the Royer ribbon mic. the 121. if you have a 4x12 cab just buy a g12k100, break it in, replace one of the speakers in your cab with it and mic that speaker (obviously all g12k100s would be better, so you'd have a choice, depends on your budget).

I'm guessing, but thats what I think your best bet is:

recto -> G12K100 -> SM57 and Royer 121

The SM57 and Royer combo is something I've wanted to try for a long time now, but barely anyone here has the Royer. It seems like an amazing mic to capture what the cab is actually sounding like in the room, whereas the 57 does a lot of that nasal mid thing.

Yeah... and i think that its worse then his drums... i like it when he mixes real drums! Kinda getting sick of thet steven slate sound... they are everywhere!!:yow:

Jens is probably one of the most gifted engineers these days. His stuff is always clear and punchy with a lot of life and dynamics kept in the mix, still modern loud and huge. And he is also a great guy to deal with!

Hahahaha, I didn't notice you guys were Finns until I watched the music video and noticed the dude at the office silently spelling out "Mitä vittua" :D:D:D

Really catchy song!

I guess u guys haven't seen Die Antwoord yet... :)

The girl just gets a weird haircut..that's all!

love the drums!

Does anyone know what he use parallel compression on except for drums?

Would have been great to know his secrets of compressor use as well, and also what he uses on his master buss... :rolleyes:

I noticed in this thread that he used some parallel distortion on the vocals on some Amon Amarth album as well? Ill try this ASAP...
