Can we see an example of your work?
Sure, want to trade?
Nice, I'm Eagle and Brotherhood in OA. I think we have a few other Eagles here on the board as well.
Yeah, it was brought up in another thread, but I don't remember which one and there were quite a few.
(not like OA really makes one better than any other Eagle Scout anyway)
That's what you think!
My uncle is an Eagle scout. He still participates in a ton of scout activities and goes to all the Jamborees.
I still participate too, but mostly in OA stuff now, because the kids are more mature and better behaved. Also, there's less pressure for me to "set an example" because the people that I hang out with are mostly other young adults and older teenagers.
OA sucked. At least my lodge did. It was like some stupid secret club where they didn't do anything fun. Yeah it was kind of cool to say you were in it, but really it made no difference and getting in was a pain in the ass.
OA is intended to be secretive, but it's a lot more open than it used to be. My lodge has a lot of fun though and back when I was still a youth member, I participated in a lot of the ceremonies. I was Mateo in the pre-Ordeal ceremony and we were even ranked as a distinguished team at NOAC for our performance. I've also filled in for positions in other ceremonies and performed several different roles in the weekly Tap Outs. After we decided to stop using live speakers at Tap Out, they even asked me to be a voice actor for the CD that they intended to use for future ceremonies.
i'm also eagle (w/ silver palm and) and vigil in OA. i'm still very active in both (as an adult leader obviously). i recently went to summer camp with my troop. had a blast. we got 14 kids (out of 33) to advance in rank. i really like the program, and will continue to support it
~gR~
I have four palms, but I'm not very active anymore. I'm still registered as an Assistant Scout Master and I'm a councilor for like half a dozen merit badges, but I stopped attending troop meetings after I started college and even while I'm on vacation I still don't go. My troop is actually at camp this week, so I went to visit on Tuesday because I had the day off and I'll be heading back up again today because I have another day off and their Court of Honor is tonight, but it's been such a long time since I was active that I don't know any of the scouts now, because almost all of them are new.
Are you serious?
They actually pay you to sit around naked?
Are there hot chicks in the art class? 'cuz I could see that getting really awkward?
Yeah, they really do pay people for that, and it's definitely the easiest job I've ever had. The only draw back is that the class only meets twice a week, so I work six hours per week max
There usually aren't very many good looking women in the class, but this past semester there were two who I thought were attractive enough that I wouldn't mind seeing outside of class. Out of the female models, one is my ex girlfriend, so seeing her naked is nothing new. Aside from her, there's this one short girl with very impressive boobs and a stupid hair style, but she's still pretty cute.
It never really gets awkward though, but I've never had an erection in class anyway, if that's what you mean. Usually I just zone out, and if we're sitting or lying down, sometimes I even fall asleep.
It's a college class though, they're all art students, the instructor's great and everything is very professional. This past semester, there were even three older women who always spoke to me during my break to tell me what an amazing model I am or talk about whatever else is on their mind. I was originally kind of surprised to hear that though, because modeling doesn't sound like it takes any particular amount of skill to be good at, but apparently a lot of the other models are fidgety and I'm one of the only reliable ones to stay still and hold a pose for fourty minutes to an hour.
Nice. I've thought about continuing as an adult leader once I'm out of college, but I have issues with BSA's discriminatory policies towards gays and atheists. It's a real shame too because it's a good program.
I'm an Atheist, and I've never had any problems relating to this fact. As long as you don't walk around talking about it, no one seems to notice.
