Kamelot - The Black Halo

:loco: you are DEFO a brainwasher... but a good one :p
I had been hearing a ton about this album and had been wanting to pick it up for a while... then I saw your thread and it reminded me again.. and after all the praise you gave it ... well, it sealed the deal w/the devil per say :tickled:

All I can say is I cannot wait for their next release and all I can hope for is that it is half as wood as the BH is *thud*

LOL! I wanted to comment about the Faustian overtones in our discussion in my previous message but I did not. Then I saw you picked it up anyway. Good one Pabla!

Thanks! One tries...
So.. I'll tell you my fav track of the album if you tell me yours ;)

That goes to anyone else who would like to comment on this as well :)

I can in no way bring this album back to only one favorite track. One of the reasons I like this album so much is that it is a strong album as a whole!

So I am gonna name several of my favorite tracks:

My first favorite on the album is "Soul Society". I just love those lyrics!
And I think Khan is right on, 80% of the time the reason why people accept religion is that it gives them hope for an afterlife.

The combination of "Abandoned" and "This Pain" gets me every time. "The Black Halo" is a big favorite and so is "Memento Mori".

O and "Moonlight and "Serenade" are both fantastic! See? I named almost all tracks. duH! Ok, when I think about it, I go for "Soul Society". But it is with the smallest difference possible that I choose this track against the others named.

Pwew!

You have any more "fun" questions?

Kamelot are the best ballad makers! well almost! on the coldest winter night, (silently we) wander.. and now the haunted. apart from that, this is another killer album from Kamelot. thanks a lot for your recommendation i like it it better the more i hear it. and of course the faust theme makes it even better!
I've always fallen for Khan's vocals, lovely.

Great to hear you are liking it Griffin!

I have listened to this album for a week trying to get into it and it just doesn't seem to click for me. However, I think everyone should give it a try if they like interludes, orchestration, and the whole 'concept' album thing. I liked the Kamelot albums that were more song oriented myself.

Excellent post! I could not agree more on just focusing on one track as this is a concept album, hence all songs are coiled together in gracious harmony.
But we must agree that there are "stronger" moments within the album... these may differ according to personal taste.

I love the way it kicks off w/March of Mephisto... I think it's a very appropriate song as it starts off full of energy and I love the beauty of the middle eastern touches, the "hey" anthem type choruses and the brutality of Shagrat's voice... perfect mix!

When the Lights are down, is kust OK... doesn't do much for me... but it doesn't take away from the album... it has the "typical Euro feel" which is not a bad thing... but this album is above that know what I mean?

The Haunting! :OMG: The lyrics in this song I just love! It's very catchy and the melody lines are great! I love the chorus... therefore my signature  A very strong point in the album IMO

Soul Society has indeed very true lyrics...also a strong point in the album... love the chorus lines once again in this!

:OMG: Abandoned... well, without trying to sound too corny here... it is a thing of beauty! The way it builds up and the emotion with which it is sung just brings tears to my eyes..another high point!

This Pain bring the album back to "full speed" ahead... a great follow up to a great ballad!

MONLIGHT... I think It may have IMO the strongest point in the album... why? Because of the finality of the lyrics, the way it's delivered...the energy behind it.. I just love it!

The Black Halo...Great opening riff... full of energy, letting the listener know it is all coming together to the culmination point!

Nothing ever dies...has pieces that once again sounds too "Euro generic" but has pieces that make it a strong song as well!

Memento Mori... wow, a true prog/power mmasterpiece!

Serenade... beautiful way to round up everything and end the disc...although in my personal opinion I would like to have it end with more of a "bang" but this song does the trick nicely as well ;)

Wheffffff, now I am tired :tickled:

OK... another "fun question" :heh:

Talk about the storyline
