Kansas City Power Metal Fest

Manilla Road is great. Too bad people in the US don't turn out to see them. I hope you have better luck than some have had.

I saw the promoters at a diy concert over the weekend. I asked them a few questions and there might be a hotel group discount for out of towners or the people that are gonna be partying all day and all night like myself.

Well, how about that?! Two incredible Chicago bands, TWELFTH GATE and SACRED DAWN, have both been confirmed for the 2008 Kansas City Power Metal Fest!

Nightmare Records’ SACRED DAWN is a progressive metal group who will be hitting the Kansas City area in April. With a new album coming out soon, they’re a band to watch! Check out their Myspace page for more details!

TWELFTH GATE a Season of Mist artist, will descend upon KC with the very best in heavy, melodic metal! The band will also be playing Chicago Powerfest in 2008, with Testament and Iced Earth headlining. Check them out!

As always, thanks for supporting and keep checking the page for updates!

Thanks, Ian...I was just getting ready to post the same thing.

Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 day of show (not available for sale yet). We're also considering a pre-show "party" to feature other national and touring bands, but that's still in the works.

Check www.kcpmf.com for updates.

Looks like a couple of bands that have been confirmed are speaking out a little early on their myspaces see if you can find them.

Let me just say that I am ULTRA FUCKING STOKED!!

Here's news from KCPMF's Myspace page:

CAGE, SEVENTH CALLING & PHANTOM-X confirmed for first day of KCPMF!

Hello metalheads!

Because of the overwhelming response we’ve received from bands and fans alike, we’ve decided to make Kansas City Power Metal Fest a two-day festival. Thank you all for your support and encouragement! We will fight the good fight to prove that true metal has a home in Kansas City!

We are also very pleased to announce that San Diego’s CAGE will be headlining the first night of KCPMF on Friday, August 8th! Also confirmed for Friday’s show are Minnesota’s SEVENTH CALLING and PHANTOM-X from Dallas, TX!

CAGE is well known to those following the American true metal scene, headlining metal festivals around the world and making fans by sticking to the roots of traditional heavy metal. Their 2007 album Hell Destroyer was released to rave reviews, including a 9/10 score at Blabbermouth.net.

SEVENTH CALLING, Minneapolis’ practitioners of the heavy metal faith, are touring with CAGE throughout the summer, stopping at many festivals along the way. The band is also signed to Melissa Records, the same label that Kansas City’s own ANCIENT CREATION has recently joined!

PHANTOM-X are definitely no strangers to the metal scene. This Texas group features in its ranks OMEN vocalist Kevin Goocher, who is also appearing on VH1’s "I Know My Kid’s a Star," hosted by Danny Bonaduce! The band also recently signed to TinselTone Records.

So this is in August? I have to see what else pans out (I know Mexico & England in the near future - as well as ProgPower) - but KC is probably as close as I can get to some decent Metal (since everyone avoids Colorado).

Good work on setting this up - hope it works out great.

Jeff

I'm going to try to plan a trip down to KC for this....wouldn't want to miss a lineup like this.
Anyone from the Chicagoland area going?

And since I'm not from around the KC area, can someone give me some insight as to what is around the venue?
What hotel is everyone staying at?

The venue is right in the middle of an area called Westport as known Wastedport. There is a bar about every 100 feet. However the nearest hotel is about a 10 minute drive or a 45 minute walk, yeesh. Though I have seen the organizers around and they said they are working on something just give them time.

I also happened to be relayed the name of the next band confirmed, and lets just say

WOOT!!!!

by the way... if I don't get stuck driving to the east coast for family vacation that week, I will try to convince my better half to make the journey west for the KCPMF. :heh:

it's a longshot, but :kickass:
