Oh yeah and I finally saw Wolf of Wall Street. Real good. I'm gonna need to catch Her and 12 Years a Slave because I hear both of these movies are amazing.

I wasn't expecting anything...I knew it was going to be bad...but not this bad. Sadly the idea was there for some cool things...just a director with not enough vision to pull it off.

I like artsy fartsy movies as much as the next guy but I'll be the first to straight up tell you Pain & Gain, Fast and Furious 6, and Riddick were among my favorite movies of 2013, and I loved the hell out of 47 Ronin. Some movies are just fun, or even so bad they are good.

What you described are not Bronies... they're just nerds. Specifically, they are 13-year-old (physically or mentally) nerds who live with their parents. The internet is full of them... just look at any comment thread or unrestricted message board and you'll see them. Everyone hates those people; we just learn to ignore them, or if they harass us on the street, punch them.

Speaking of which, have you seen Pain & Gain? It was fucking incredible - I think it's right up your alley. Very cynical film with tons of dark humor. Hard to believe it came from Michael Bay.

Waiting for Netflix or cable for it....it did look interesting actually. I was shocked when I saw the trailer that Bay did this one.

I really liked that movie. I didn't think I would when it first came out so I skipped seeing it in the theaters...watched it on PPV and really dug it. I am not a fan of Josh Weadon but it was really worthwhile.
A great movie, especially the ending. Joss has a way of writing that few others in Hollywood do.

Just saw Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyer's Club last night. Matthew McConaughey is amazing in DBC, damn good performance.

I got back from my annual trek to Cleveland for the CWRU SF Movie Marathon. Thoughts about some of the stuff I saw:
After Earth - I guess M. Night continues to prove he's a mediocre director. The concept isn't horrendous, but execution leaves a lot to be desired. (It was also a running joke during the festival to say something was showing more emotion than Will Smith.)
The Iron Giant - I haven't seen it in years, but it still holds up well. Still one of my favorite animated films.
Mars Attacks - The first surprise. The budget of this always seemed to exceed what it probably should have been filmed for. A big budget B Movie.
Men In Black 3 - Actually a lot better than expected. It felt like they had a strong idea going in and executed well.
Brazil - Probably Terry Gilliam's best film. Also not a film I'd watch every day because the length wears you down.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space - Silly Z movie stuff.
Children Of Men - A brutal view of how something going wrong can cause the disintegration of society. The plot was almost secondary to that.
Dune - I think this might be the first time I've seen the theatrical cut. It is also the first time I've seen it since reading the book. The movie obviously has its moments, but too much is missing. I don't think a feature-length film can do it justice.
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea - The second surprise. A very good adventure film that holds up fairly well. The message still holds up well even today.
Monsters, Inc - Not my favorite Pixar film. Boo steals the show, but I could take or leave the rest of it.
The World's End - Wow, this movie is just insane. So far, the team of Pegg, Frost and Wright have not disappointed me, and this was an excellent way to end the trilogy and the marathon.

I've always loved Mars Attacks in a guilty pleasure sort of way. A lot of people bitch about it, but this is not a movie that is supposed to be serious in any way.
Brazil is fantastic. Also one of those movies you get something new out of it every time.
Children of Men is very underrated. Great stuff.
