LOTR trilogy vs. Star Wars trilogy

Which is better, the LOTR trilogy, or the SW trilogy?

What about the Planet Hoth Snow battle in The Empire Strikes Back
That fucking rules
A snow walker could easily kick ass all over middle earth

Love both, but prefer LotR. One thing though....can anyone tell me why Frodo is so fucking special? Sam went everywhere he did, and kept his head a lot better. What's with all the "for Frodo" honour bullshit? The actor who did his part (what's his name again....Elijza Mohammad?) shit me as well. Only used about three facial expressions in the whole trilogy.

I agree. He was a poor choice. Merry and Pippen were brilliant, Sam was decent, but Frodo was crap. For three whole three hour films I had to force myself to block out his poor acting.

yeh LOTR. the visuals are unbelievable, especially th Return.... the minas tirith scenes were amzing! Frodo i didn't think was too bad.. Everyone else was great! ian mckellen (spelling?) as gandalf was one of the best i reckon!

and CP30 and R2D2 annoy the fuckin shit outta me. And so does Luke.

I've heard a few stories that when Elijah Wood sent in his infamous audition tape, the first thing Peter Jackson did was check his old movies to see if he could pull off the scene inside Mt Doom.... I think he did it fucking brilliantly. I think you have to take into account that as the movie progresses, Frodo is basically turning in a zombie carrying a fucking heavy rock around his neck.

Winmar.... the ring corrupts by twisting what you most desperatly want and using it for it's own gain. Frodo didn't want anything (except possibly to save the Shire), Sam was just tagging along because of his absolute devotion to Frodo. Had Sam beared the ring long enough, he would have been taken. As Gandalf said "Understand that I would use this Ring from a desire to do good. But through me... it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine"

Elijah was spectacular, as was every memeber of the cast! The only beef I had was Arwen.. what a joke she was, a sore thorn on a beautiful movie

Arwen did bother me more than anyone else as well, but I think it was more the character than the performance, so that is fine.

Elijah Wood did a fine job, I can't see anyone else doing it any better. As Todd said, from within the second film onwards Frodo was pretty much turning into a zombie, so it isn't like the lack of emotion of anything was Elijah's fault, it was the character. Go back and watch the start of Fellowship again and he isn't as one dimensional.

I think Jackson slightly over-played the Gimli-as-comic-relief hand. And Wood was great as a tortured soul. He even looked like Frodo, IMO. Tyler did well as Arwen, but her role suffered a bit because in the books it was so minor. Hers was about the only role that had to be extrapolated for the film.

Wait a minute, how could he look like Frodo? :)

The films wouldnt have been as good without Gimli being funny, I loved when Aragorn tells him he has to be thrown across and he goes "Alright, but DONT tell the elf..."

I think the humour was good and the movies would have been WAY to serious without it, but it could have been spread through the characters more. Gore's right. Gimli gave the dwarves a bad name.

Gimli is the best Dwarf ever.

"We Dwarves are made for sprinting, not cross country!"

I cant imagine Aragorn The Serious cracking a joke, nor Gandalf, or the Elf, so it was left to a couple of Hobbits and Gimli to be the r2d2 and C3p0 of LOTR :)
