This is one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard.
And I'm Executive Producer! You're welcome, motherfucker.
I'm actually shocked that it took you over ten listens to come to this conclusion. PtS is like if you spliced all those fantastic interlude tracks from Bath and Body Works (brought back directly from the astral plane... no, really, read an interview from around this time...) with "Choirs of the Eye" (already genetically altered to sound like Magma) and baby-fucked the resulting mutant with a painting by William Blake. IMPOSSIBLE that this album is this good. Really, totally, exponentially unexpected and un-possible.
And I don't hear that many similarities to the last two Kayo Dot albums. Let's face it: other than the middle sections of tracks 3 and 4, there isn't much the hatas can complain about. Take track 4, which comes out of a semi-KD/ambient section (6:53 mark) with about the simplest major-key riff known to man. Keep in mind though that these weirdo sections don't bother me, as I am completely kay for Gayo Dot.
Whereas "Blue Lambency Downward" was like being in a dream-fog where fragments of songs and objects move in and out of the mist, "Part The Second" is like being a ghost riding in the tail of a comet. Not directionless, but elliptical. Or something.
Toby Driver = the Schoenberg of metal. But why even call it metal any more? This is about the furthest from Nuclear Blast that one could ever get.
