Just got the new Vitus record and listened to it and then proceeded to watch the DVD that came with it and fucken OH MAN

SO FUCKEN EXCITED HOLY SHIT

So dudes, Dan's buddy from Canada is apparently rooming with us (in my room probably) and you know what that means... Cheaper prices for everyone! I've gotta do some math when I get home (posting from phone tbqfh) but it should reduce everyone's out-of-pocket room expenses by like 12 bucks or so. Cheers!!

We really need to start hanging out at bars in-between shows this year instead of going back to the hotel. The hotel's only really fun at night once the parties have started.

But the hotels have cheap ass beers... I'll likely be too poor to get more than a beer or two at the bar each visit. Although, I'm not bringing any merch money, unless I see something I fucking have to have.

Yeah I'm not going to be buying many CDs this year; there are one or two I have already committed to buying, I'll definitely stop by Metal Dave's cuz, well, it's fucking Metal Dave, but otherwise... yeah. Beer, food, etc.

I took my car into the shop a couple days ago since I haven't gotten it looked at in over a year since I started owning it. Wanted it to be in tip-top shape before driving it to MDF and before I drive it to Iowa in August, at which point I'll be selling it.

Got a call from the mechanic this morning. Apparently there are a bunch of little leaks, holes, cracks and what-not in a bunch of components I never even knew existed. This is going to be a monumentally costly repair (but after selling the car I think I'll still net double the repair cost).

That said, it would make me feel better for anyone still owing me the hotel payment to send that along, if you are able.

Thanks.

They do shit like that, unfortunately. If you are friends with Dan on FB, get an itemized list of things wrong with the car and ask him if he knows anything about them. He's good with shit like that and maybe he could save you some money. *shrug* worth a shot.

Our local mechanic is really good and we trust him and he has a good rate. However, I'm dropping over $1300 on this repair. It's a 2004 Ford Escape with 140,000 miles on it and is subject to New England driving conditions and the deplorable state of the roads in Maine.

OK, people, things may get interesting regarding this whole affair.

My grandmother is dying. Here's part of an email from my father:

Basically it appears she has entered the terminal stages of whatever that degenerative disease she has is - the major new symptom being difficultly swallowing (and hence eating solid food). She is losing weight because of this. This is a known late-stage symptom of her disease.

The above is all that can be stated factually. Any attempt to quantify how this is going to play out, and on what timeframe, is strictly conjecture at this point. Something might happen soon, or it might be weeks or months.

I have made people aware that you have some irreversible commitments Memorial Day weekend which could put you in a real bind if things deteriorate quickly. However, since there is no definitive reason to believe that they will or won't, the only sane choice is for everyone to proceed with their lives until told otherwise.

Since I am responsible for one of the hotel rooms and transporting three people up and down the Eastern seaboard, I can't fathom any way of compromising anything should there be a funeral in Buffalo, NY at the same time. As the email says, there can't be any definite conjecture at this point. But damn, I would feel really shitty if certain events happened to coincide and I had to opt for MDF.

However, it's not beyond possibility to fly from Baltimore to Buffalo and back if the two events happen to coincide. Don't you love having to calculate these matters...

We've been prepared for this and it's for the best. Her illness, as described, has turned her into a perfectly healthy cognitive brain trapped in a body deprived of all motor function (including speech). She's been absolutely miserable the past couple years and if she weren't a devout Catholic would have wanted euthanasia in a snap.

Oof, Zeph, seems like you're having somewhat of a rough time these past few weeks... to say the least. Let any of us know if we can help in any possible way.
