The thing is Nick, nobody has ever given valid arguments in favour of Judeo-Christian ideals, as far as most Anus-folk are concerned. This is why they oppose it in the first place, it's highly illogical and harmful.

hahaha

edit: you realise how totally terrible you sound right nix

I would play him "pornstorestiffi" by BloodDuster and tell him to go fuck himself, and then would pull out my knife and stab him in the leg or the arm(so he doesnt die) and then I would drop out of college.

Dream Theater? You mean the band that has less compositional talent than a bar of soap?

haha. the image this brings up is very funny. I'm imagining a bar of soap...

"uh... I dunno. I guess you could put a guitar solo or something there. and a movie quote! that would be cool."

"Sola Fide I," from Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice, though I think you're pretty screwed here.

that's interesting to know.
lol for the record i love classical and metal also :tickled:

this was a nice story, laugh my ass off imagining the teacher headbaging to cryptopsy.

most metal compared to classical is a joke...
i think that metal could be compared to string quartets in a way, harmonically is the close metal it gets (excepting symphonic bands and those with lots of keyboards), but again theres´s so many types of metal...but classical is another level no doubt about that.

everybody can write a metal song even if its really bad, to write a classical piece you have at least to know some music theory.
i think the key word is harmony, cuz in tecnical aspects metal has lots of virtuosos too.

My music professor gave my class an assignment. It was to write a 3-5 min. chamber piece with an unusual element to it. I added minimal guitar, bass, and drum parts to a standard 5-piece chamber group and wrote some Opeth/In Flames-sounding passages. I also wrote the piece in E minor, in an attempt to get a metallic “feel.”

My prof. rejected the piece, saying that he noticed the metal elements and that it was childish. Metal is too unsophisticated, “in your face,” and is in essence folk music, or kids’ music. He said that my piece reeked of bad songwriting (I showed it to at least 10 fellow students and the assistant teacher and all said it looked awesome—I know the writing is good). He challenged me to find one metal song, just ONE, that has any of the maturity, tone, development, or “musicality” of any of Beethoven’s works.

If I can find such a song by Monday, he will reconsider my failing grade. I’m looking for one that has all those elements he mentioned and more, and doesn’t have any orchestral backing, so he can’t claim that stealing classical techniques was what made it good.

Anyone know anything that I can actually use?

You should try Opeth - Deliverance (the song) because of its weird similarity to Beethoven's 5th symphony first moment, in that it starts out with a really really barbaric simple motife and develops exponentially into a really beautiful piece that wouldn't have been obvious at all from the beginning of the song. If your prof gets bored skip to around 8:50 in the song were theres an amazing change into the clean part. If he isnt impressed by THAT i dunno what will work... good luck man.
