Most universally hated genre of music?

Classical is probably hated a lot more than country, given that its radio prevalence is tiny compared to how much love country music gets on the airwaves.

I don't think its really hated. It just doesn't appeal to a lot of people.

You could make the same argument for country. Hate, underappreciation, and lack of appeal are all on a blurry line of subjectivity.

Yes, true. But most people I know find country irritating and classical boring.

How are we defining hated? Does someone have to know about it to hate it? Or are we saying, what, if we walked up to someone and played them a sample, would be most hated?
In that case I'd have to say probably noise or black metal.

I would say metal in general since most people are like 'I LIKE EVERYTHING EXCEPT METAL'

What really chaps my ass is the people that write on their Facebook 'I LIKE ALL MUSIC' yet if I played them some fucking Satyricon they would hate it most likely

David Allen Coe is a worthwhile country artist, just because he's funny as shit. I can tolerate some bluegrass, the fast stuff with banjos and whatnot. I also like Sunshine on my goddammn shoulders John-fukkin-Denver.

"fuckin in the butt..fuckin in the butt..fuckin in the buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutt"
i think rap is the most hated one IMO

You would be wrong. Lots of people like rap. Even shitty dance rap. Maybe by metalheads its the most hated genre.

well when we say most hated, would how many people like it be taken into account? Like say there was a genre of music where 1/3 of people liked it, 1/3 of people hated it, and 1/3 didn't care for it ,and another genre that 1/4 of people liked it, 1/4 hated, and 1/2 didn't care for it. Wouldn't the first one technically be more hated even though it also has more fans?

I feel like even though rap sells really well, there are still a lot of people who hate it out there, same with country.

But I think more people overall dislike metal.
Tbh this is a waste of time until we come up with some standards for judgement - what constitutes hatred, and does someone have to have heard it, or can we show it to them and get their reaction?

Wow grimmy, didnt have you figured as a Coe fan, my personal fave is the one about Pussy Eatin Pamela, Bloody Mary and all the rest.
