Movies

I have not seen part 2, but the original was brilliant ... Scorsese just finished the remake, THE DEPARTED ... shot in Boston with DeCaprio ... Marty is my fave director, but he has to stop this fucking collaboration with Leo ... he ain't no Bob Deniro.

oh yeah, the trailer ...

oh yeah, rented Season 1 of Miami Vice The TV Series on DVD ... not sure what the critics and detractors were yapping about ... but the pilot episode is very similar to the movie ... way too dark for a TV show and so obviously ahead of its time.

even Don Johnson was fucking cool :loco:

V for Vendetta was just great. I had never read the graphic novel before however the movie was so captivating that now I am a huge fan. I never know that graphic novels could be so deep and gritty (and still remain intellectual) IMO the dialogue in V for Vendetta was fantastic. I think it's one of the best action films to come out in the last 10 years. The special edition DVD is just great as well.

Jerry,
I like the comedy style of the Cohen brothers. I appreciate the detail and thought that goes into their scripts and cinematography. I can usually only watch a movie once or twice but the Cohen Bros movies I can watch over and over.
As for Dumb and Dumber I like it. I saw it in the theater and fell out of my seat laughing. It's a genuine classic. I don't like Carey's other movies that much (Ace Ventura, etc.).
I also like Wes Anderson's stuff. Although he gets progressively worse with each film, I probably won't even bother with his next one. Kinda lik Dream Theater.
As for Rosario Dawson's tits, no comment. I've never really paid attention.

Yeah, that's what I figured but in all honesty, a *real* Jew would spell it Cohen.

Also, forgot the reason I was going to post here in the first place: Watched Land of the Dead yesterday. MY GOD this is the worst movie of all time. It really snapped me out of my George A. Romero-coma and realize he's one of the least talented people on the face of the planet. The original Dawn the Dead is great but it's only great because of its hokiness (and awesome sountrack), metal-epic length, and nihilism. In reality it's a terrible terrible movie, as is Day of the Dead. Really, Night of the Living Dead is the only thing he's done that should receive any kind of merit. It annoys me that Romero has been getting along for so many years on absolute crap. MAN, I wish I woulda not watched Land of the Dead.

Just finished watching Old Boy. This film is a beast!. Picture Count of Monte Cristo and The Machinist having a bastard love child who made the nanny commit suicide out of a 3 story window. Holy Hell, this is cinematic bliss!!! No cheesy ass happy go lucky hollywood storylines to make you cringe with predictability! This movie is sick, twisted, and diabolical!!!

I wish to pick up the soundtrack, as the music is quite dazzling throughout.

Fan Trailer - Which gives absolutely nothing away, as opposed to the studio trailer.

P.S Reco credit for this film goes to Lurch. "A giant among men!!!" :worship:

Janice: I've got the perfect girl for you!
Jeremy Grey: [sigh] Janice, I apologize to you if I don't seem real eager to jump into a forced awkward intimate situation that people like to call dating. I don't like the feeling. You're sitting there, you're wondering do I have food on my face, am I eating, am I talking too much, are they talking enough, am I interested I'm not really interested, should I play like I'm interested but I'm not that interested but I think she might be interested but do I want to be interested but now she's not interested? So all of the sudden I'm getting, I'm starting to get interested... And when am I supposed to kiss her? Do I have to wait for the door cause then it's awkward, it's like well goodnight. Do you do like that ass-out hug? Where you like, you hug each other like this and your ass sticks out cause you're trying not to get too close or do you just go right in and kiss them on the lips or don't kiss them at all? It's very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you're just really wondering are we gonna get hopped up enough to make some bad decisions? Perhaps play a little game called "just the tip". Just for a second, just to see how it feels. Or, ouch, ouch you're on my hair.
Janice: Okay...
Jeremy Grey: OK, can you, can you put that so he can't see it? Thank you. Hey, Janice... great talk.

hehe ... gracias, but I believe that reco came from Russell originally or even JK ...

Watched Brick last night. I liked the dialogue, although it could be hard to follow. It had a strangely Shakespearean quality to it. I also liked the way it was shot. Lastly, the characters were fairly interesting. However, in the end, the story just wasn't that compelling.

Aye, it's very good but I thought the script was a bit too complicated thus lessening the punch of the final revelation somewhat. Also, I didn't understand until later who the persons in the flashback in the class room were :tickled: Those damn gooks all look the same

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Lady Vengeance need more love. In my opinion as good as OldBoy, if not better, in their own unique ways. Though Lady Vengeance I felt suffered from some hard to follow plot moments as well.

It's an awesome trilogy of films.

As great as it is, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is just too bleak for me to watch and enjoy more than once a year, which is a shame, as it's a great movie. Lady Vengeance is very good tho.

Just got back from Oslo, while I was there I saw Twelve Monkeys, which was very good - have seen La Jetee, and it was good to see what Terry Gilliam had done with it. Also saw the first two Harry Potter movies, Reanimator (very amusing!), Naked Gun 2 1/2 and a couple of other movies I'm forgetting right now :)
