I do want to see this, even though I'm generally avoiding remakes. But, I figure if anyone can put a new spin on a concept, Scorsese can.

I saw Infernal Affairs and it was great. The Departed just takes its storyline .. that's it. everythign else is a total departure from it, as you can imagine.

I never heard such creative use of profanity in a movie before.

I watched "the Warrior" lastnight, it was kinda cool.

An epic tale, in the Indian desert, of a warrior's search to change his life and to find peace. Lafcadia is the head of a band of warriors employed by a lord who rules from his Red Fort. In the midst of the slaughter of a village, Lafcadia has a mystical encounter with a young girl. He drops his sword and vows never to kill again. Lafcadia attempts to escape with his young son Katiba. The lord orders the warriors to bring back Lafcadia's head. They capture Katiba who dies protecting his father. Lafcadia, a broken man, sets off into the wilderness pursued by the warriors. On his journey he meets Riaz, a young street kid and an old blind woman on a pilgrimage to a Holy River. In the mountains, Lafcadia eventually comes face to face with the warriors, and is forced to confront his past in order to reach his goal.

Anyone ever see the movie Six String Samurai? It is a crazy little movie!
This is a little summary i found on good ole internets:

Oh are you going to love this! "The Wizard of Oz" meets "Highlander" after the apocalypse, now there's an idea you don't see every day.

In the movie's alternate reality Russia nuked the U.S. in 1957 and then invaded, Lost Vegas is the last bastion of freedom and Elvis is the king. After four decades he passes on and every warrior/musician hears the call. They must journey to Lost Vegas where one shall be crowned king. Unfortunately Death wants the throne for himself so the trail is fraught with peril.

Into this amazing script we drop Buddy, the most powerful rockin' samurai out there. On the way to his new gig (the crown) he saves "The Kid" - so the little bugger starts tagging along. Together they battle hordes of weirdos and struggle to avoid Death.

Death is one annoyed heavy metal guy and with his three henchmen the reaper is killing every other challenger. Buddy might be the only one powerful enough to deny him the crown. Prepare yourself for hordes of crazy fight scenes, Buddy (Holly?) cracks skulls with his guitar, dices with his katana, and is deadly in hand to hand. His attack on the Russian Army is breathtaking, including the Soviet "ninja" who knows "Tiger Style." (Hehehehe!)

Pretty acurate description. Enjoyable movie if you can enjoy a very strange premise.

The Island was great ... total surprise, you are right.

Best Michael Bay by far ... if there is such a thing :loco:

I want to see The Departed again just to hear Baldwin's lines. Soo hilarious
"yourenotoneofthosehealthytypesareyagofuckyerself"

haha yeah every part with Baldwin ruled. I almost fell outta my chair during the golf scene. Walhberg's parts were equally as priceless. I'm not big into fellating actors but everyone in that movie kicked ass. DiCaprio owns. I don't care what anyone says.
