Movies

I saw the anvil documentary today. It was definitely worth seeing but it didn't actually make me want to explore the bands music. In the end it became a feelgood movie.

I'm pretty sure it just got an uncut Region 1 release, so shouldn't be too hard for you to find. It's a bit arthouse, and a bit nasty horror, and incredibly bleak. Director was a really nice guy though, apparently he made the movie in order to cope with what amounted to a nervous breakdown and subsequent depression.

Oh man, I watched MARTYRS earlier this evening and i am beyond speechless.
This transcended movie making into something unimaginable. I can't even believe how the director translated this story to film ...

This is going to stay with me for awhile.

Highly recommended, but incredibly disturbing. Go in without reading anything about it.

Its way beyond what you think its about.

At 14, best friends Robb Reiner and Lips made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams.

I want to see the ANVIL doc bad and will get it when it comes out. Yes they fucked up Dead Pool and I was sad, but......Terminator looks awesome. Wolverine was cheesy in spots but it was a good opening summer flick.

Incredibly feel good. "Lips" comes off as one hell of a guy. The music equivalent of The Wrestler. Though, I could have done with out the half assed testimonials of their influence from Slash and company, along with the emotional "Some Kind of Monster" breakdown/hugfest, but aside from that, top notch.

I implore everyone to do themselves a service and go watch Star Trek. I never seen a single minute of the tv shows or the prior movie releases, always figuring it was cornier than a hillbilly's incisors, but I went in with the confidence that J.J Abrams can do no wrong. The man is a Sci-Fi savant! Zachary Quinto sheds the disgusting image of Sylar almost instantly to become the modern day embodiment of Spock, who quite frankly, can beat the living shit out of a 1,000 Jedis. Yep Max, I'm calling your ass out. Take your Fanboys and shove it up your pooper. George Lucas couldn't dream to come up with a story this compelling and immersible this late in the game. The return, or in my case debut, of Leonard Nimoy was beyond legend. Highest Recommendation!

i never watched a single episode of Star Trek ... but the reviews from everyone and everywhere have been ridiculously enthusiastic ... enough for me to give it a shot.

Yeah I watched it the other day too. Not nearly worth the hype it got.

Watched Dear Zachary yesterday also. Very moving story. If there were some way of bringing humans back to life, I'd bring that bitch back and pump her up with a bike pump till she blew into 14 pieces.
