That's amazing - I don't remember that being in b&w at all. Maybe that's some kind of law specific to Sweden?

Anyone else seen Kill Bill and remember the huge finale being in b&w? I saw it in the UK and as far as I can remember, it was in coloUr...
No, it was in black and white until the room of blue TVs :)

watching Conan the Destroyer. Good God what a bad movie. But it's one of those that is so ridiculous, it's damn entertaining. How could it not be? It's got basketball legend Richard Chamberlain, weirdo Grace Jones, and the chick that would would be the sister in The WOnder Years (I think).

And with Arnold saying "Krom" every time something happens, it's a doozy.

Yeah, CtD was a disaster. It's even got that chick from The Wonder Years.

CtB is classic though - awesome soundtrack, brilliant script written by Oliver Stone, and of course James Earl Jones as the big bad wulf. Much more bloodshed too - CtD was aimed at a much younger audience, along with shit like Red Sonja.

yeah CtD is way too humourus, or trying to be at least hehe, the final battle with that horned thing is kinda cool though.
speaking of which; anyone here who's seen the magnificent flick "krull"?

Krull is great. I want my own spiky boomerang thingy.

Saw Ah-nold in The 6th Day recently. Not bad, but I hate when directors feel the need to push their own agenda in a movie. In this case, the director's agenda was regarding cloning. Still a decent flick.

Krull is good in a cheap, low budget, cult kind of way. You know, when then-not so famous actors like Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane were starved thespians.

Another film like this is Flash Gordon. Cheesy, low budget, acting is iffy, and that fight with Timothy Dalton on the moving spikey platform is pure class. Of course the Queen soundtrack is the icing on the cake.....

haha yeah i loved that one as a kid, must have been almost ten years since i saw it now, btw ming's hat must be one of the most evil headgears ever :D
hm... i only remember some golden stuff and a icky tongue about that platform fight, gotta see this one soon

Krull was an awesome film for its time. That bladey bommerang thing was brilliant and the way he pulled it out of the lava it was like something out of King Arthur's fantasy. Mind you it was on the other night and I fell asleep in front of the tv !

Kill Bill: It did have the fight sequence in B&W. There is absolutely no way that film would have been given a certificate had it been in colour. It was just a brutal scene.

I saw 'Lost in Translation' and it is a brilliant indie film. If you can forgive it's sluggish pace and lack of studio lighting the film shows a fascinating glimpse of isolation and loneliness. Bill Murray is so cool in this film.

So Lord of the Rings won the Golden Globe for best picture, and Peter Jackson won best director. Good for them

I don't remember that Kill Bill scene being in b&w at all. Why wouldn't it have got a certificate otherwise - Ichi the Killer did, and was hailed by the critics, especially Empire magazine (5 stars).

I saw the first half of Battle Royale II last night. Fucking brilliant, but a retread of what happened in part 1 so far (kind of). Anyway, 26 children get wasted in the first 10 minutes. Doesn't quite top Suicide Club though where 54 children jump in front of a moving train in the opening sequence. Got to love those warped Japs.

Just ordered Ju-On: The Grudge. Supposed to blow everything else away (including The Ring). Tom Cruise just picked up the rights for this and The Eye for Hollywood remakes, but who the fuck wants that kind of pansy glossy bollocks?

so jaykeeley... what do think about the dawn of the dead remake? :D
Not sure what to think really. I didn't bother with the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, although for the most part, people liked it - even horror coinneseurs. I'll wait for it on DVD as I do with most things these days.

I have the latest Fangoria magazine and it has an article on the new Dawn of the Dead. They've vamped it up, the Zombies are running this time (like the infected humans in 28 Days Later), and it could be good. Romero himself wants no part of it so who knows.

28 Days Later wasn't bad, and yet Resident Evil was an atrocity. It could go either way.

You wanna know which Zombie flick I'm looking forward to more than any other? The Spierig Brother's "Undead".

I thought it was a good movie, very well done. I've already become numb to the idea of remakes (which I admit is stupid in essense). I just try my hardest to look at it on it's own merit.

I'll definitely be there to see it opening night. Again, like TCM, I'm just trying to think of it as a new zombie movie with a strangely familiar title, not a remake of my favorite movie ever.

For what it was, I actually liked RE. It was by no means stellar, but good crappy fun. The final scene is awesome and I hope it carries over to the sequel.

It's already out for rent on dvd in Austrailia, it's supposed to be available for sale next month. It's not going to be in the theatre here until the end of the year, so I'll be picking this up as soon as I can on dvd. I've been hearing great things about it for a while now.

Remake? Don't you mean "re-imagined", heh? What did Tim Burton start...

I prefer the games.

Great news. I'm definitely getting myself a copy.

Saw ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO ... Ok movie, but the extras on the DVD were awesome. I like Rodriguez's style and the fact that he uses new technology. The guy wears many hats and knows how to get you enthusiastic about filmmaking.

The HD picture on my HDTV was flawless ... but the movie was just OK. Johnny Depp gave another cool performance though, much like his Pirates of the Caribbean role.
