A: No. The ones i don't care about can live; it doesn't matter to me as long as they don't get in my way or try to harm my girlfriend or me. Then again, one of my favorites quotes is "i am for myself and my crew and against everything else".

Q: What's your favorite quote?

A: "Altruism is the only word God cannot understand, since all is one of Him." - me.

Q: Was that a good quote?

A: It sounds nice, but i believe altruism is nonexistent by definition.

Q: Do you agree?

A: The definition is perfectly logically possible. "Without concern of the ego."
Say there is this being A that once did something for another being B, the reason A did it is because it would benefit B and B only. Then we can conclude that at the moment of his act, A was an altruist. Therefore, altruism exists.

Q: Do you have proof of the contrary?

 

[Magrathean]

A: Yes. A wouldn't have done something for the benefit of B if it didn't also benefit A in some way. Maybe the benefit was as simple as personal satisfaction or the kind of joy/tranquillity one gets when knowing that a loved one is alright/happy, but it's still there. If it didn't make A feel good in some way, he wouldn't have done it.
