New announcement from Line6 on January 19

Reading the line 6 page now, pretty funny...the whole "mixers are too technical" shit is hilarious haha

Let's do something idiots that can't even eq their amps properly can use to make their gigs sound like shit!
Who needs live engineers now?

If it's cheap enough and sounds decent it can be nice as a small system for rehearsals and small gigs though

I don't think it's that stupid. If it were made by someone more reliable and quality oriented than line6, it would be totally interesting IMO. At least, I see potential in this philosophy, less complicated is always good. Take your ipad, go into the venue, adjust volumes and EQ so that it sounds good there, done.

The downside is that there's software, so any bug could just ruin a gig.

The paragraph talking about how mixers are too technical was kinda funny yeah.

Do you know if you can use their system with 3rd party PAs ?

*feels like a douchebag for believing that this was going to be a breakthrough of some kind*
meh

Jarkko: I'd like to meet someone who'd prefer a 7" touch screen to a nice mixer. Dammit, even digital mixers are so alike old analog mixers in the layout, why does Line6 does not see that all the successful sound engineering companies make them like that for a reason? Jesus...

for me Line 6 has allways been suited for rehearsal spaces, and this fits right in with teenagers "lets go" mentality.

no fuzz is good.

"Making music is a right-brain activity, yet we are constantly getting pulled into left-brain tasks like problem solving, analyzing and decoding"

So their solution is to give performers MORE technical stuff to faff about with at a gig

Here's a novel idea. Let the sound engineer run the sound at your gig and record you band, and you can focus on your right-brain activities like writing and playing music.

Exactly!
If you have to worry about the mix while playing live...youre pretty much fucked, you can't adjust anything while playing your instrument!
Probably you won't even be listening to the PA mix if you use monitors!

But yes, if it is a 500$ system it can be nice for rehearsals and small things

Yeah I can see this being cool for small venues, rehearsal spaces, etc. I can even deal with their stupid interface to have 20 channel digital mixer with FX. And you don't need an iPad, only if you want the remote capabilities.

Essentially it looks like a fully graphical StudioLive. The StudioLive is a great concept, but it is just a bit expensive.

Reality is, touch screens and digital encoders are now way cheaper than real pots and faders. So if the price is right, these things could sell like hotcakes.

I have been in the market for a small mixer for the occasional live sound gig and wet headphone mixes with dry tracking. So I could see this potentially fitting the bill.

pretty sick if you ask me. You buy this thing and you have 16 channel interface, in ear mixing solutions, consistent mix and lvl balances between shows, vocal fx and compression/feedback suppression. And Multitrack recorder for portable or live use.

If this thing is solid, im actually really impressed. This is pretty innovative I think, i know digital mixers exist but this could be a very affordable/band oriented one.
And to the guys saying "let the engineer do their job", you have to remember most places aren't fortunate enough to have an Andy Sneap Forum member doing the mixes at FOH. Can't tell you how many terrible local engi's I've heard do locals. This could be very useful for us experienced recording/mixing engi's who are also in bands.

IR block for HD series would've been better. It's the biggest request considering the HD series and it would take them one day to do it. Would make the POD HD into the best modeler out there since it's cheap and has the footpedal and modeling inside.

I'm fully with you on this one Clark.
