New announcement from Line6 on January 19

pretty sick if you ask me. You buy this thing and you have 16 channel interface, in ear mixing solutions, consistent mix and lvl balances between shows, vocal fx and compression/feedback suppression. And Multitrack recorder for portable or live use.

If this thing is solid, im actually really impressed. This is pretty innovative I think, i know digital mixers exist but this could be a very affordable/band oriented one.
And to the guys saying "let the engineer do their job", you have to remember most places aren't fortunate enough to have an Andy Sneap Forum member doing the mixes at FOH. Can't tell you how many terrible local engi's I've heard do locals. This could be very useful for us experienced recording/mixing engi's who are also in bands.

I dunno how often you gig but at $2500 for the mixer you could be better off hiring an "Andy Sneap forum member" to do FOH for your shows. You might save money not to mention presets can't take into account the acoustics of each room. You'd also make the house engineer/venue's lives easier as well as any bands that may have to play after you since I think it's fair to assume it'll take slightly longer to reconnect everything. And even if it didn't you still have no guarantees that you'll get a good sound if you're on stage.

holy fuck!

correct me if i'm wrong, but if i were to open a rehearsal room today, and i bought this StageScape thing, all i'd basically need is speakers, mics for the drumkit and a few DI boxes to get an awesome sound without spending thousands of dollars on amps/cabs AND be able to set up my band anywhere in a few minutes?

fuck!

don't get me wrong, impulses are always good but the QUANTITY of people this thing is valuable to is much higher than the QUALITY an impulse provides since your everyday guitar player doesn't know wtf an impulse is
much like an iPhone, it's shit wrapped in a nice box, but shit that's useful for most people...

This. Would be much less stress too.
For all the complaining I hear about guys on here and the Sturgis forum saying "most sound guys suck we'd prefer to do it ourselves" I've very rarely seen anyone asking for someone on here to do sound for their shows.

I know alot of guys on here mainly studio engineers, but there's a fair few that have live sound experience aswell. Personally I work 5 nights a week running sound at a local venue, which unfortunately leaves me barely any time for studio stuff anymore :erk:

Oh tthats crazy expensive for line6, i figured it would be like $600. I hadd no idea it was $2.5K

Anyone think this looks very similar to the new Mackie thing that's been announced?

They obviously were tripping their balls off while making that page, :Smokin:
Also, note the finger of Emperor Palpatine on those pics, adjusting EQ and stuff... lol

Regarding small "all-in-one" solutions, I think new Allen&Heath digital mixer looks way better and professional than Line6. And I'm not sure what audience is this StageScape thing made for...

I was just about to post about this. The touchscreen thing is so weird, but if it's cheap it might be cool for recording live shows and demos, etc
