New bands that will be classics in 15 years

lol @ being called a fag by a Symphony X fan... I'd assume you were kidding but your sig proves otherwise. Dream Theater (who also feature in your sig) decimate them, to be perfectly frank.

No.

Also... come on, man, Dimmu Borgir? Satyricon? Be truthful with me: are you a Cradle of Filth fanboy?

Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are infinitely better than CoF and deserve to be considered "classic" because of their good musicianship.

And while you may be right about Lamb of God becoming legendary, they also fall cleanly within the realm of "mediocre," just to be 100% clear. Simplistic music indeed.

Maybe not legendary, but I see them having longevity. They are a decent band among the shitpiles of popular American metalcore bands.

 Dream Theater are horrible compared to Symphony X who are really nothing more than above average - especially when compared to the true prog. metal greats like Queensryche, Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Winds, and Green Carnation.

symphony x is a lot better than those bands and I like almost all of them (especially devin townsend).

I think that Green Carnation could definitely fall into the classics category. They just have to keep releasing consistently great albums.

In 15 years the classics will be whoever has more fans. Doesn't matter if the music is good or not, it has happened before. I mean, look at metallica.

Except it was the Black Album that got Metallica the most of its fans, yet most respectable people in metal regard the earlier albums as classics.

If Dream Theater's pretentiousness occasionally makes me wince, Pain of Salvation's pretentiousness might actually drive me to murder. The ORCHESTRA OF ETERNITY... Jesus. Also their vocalist actually sucks harder than LaBrie, which many people consider to be quite an accomplishment.

You're kidding yourself if you think Symphony X are any better than either of those bands, though. They put me more in mind of Dragonforce than anything else tbph  Only Dragonforce doesnt take themselves seriously...

Queensryche released a few good albums.

Crimson Massacre
Urfaust

but not widely known classics outside death and black metal circles.

except they are a 100000000000x better than dragonforce in every way imagineable.

Nah. Symphony X is basically Dream Theater lite with a more obnoxious vocalist and Dragonforce-esque lyrics and themes and an inflated ego. Dragonforce are funny, campy, and amusing, and above all, damn fun to listen to. Symphony X fall a little bit short of being goofy and end up squarely in the "gay" slot.

Dream Theater, as far as I am concerned is on a higher level than Symphony X... Sure, Symphony X is great, but DT is much better.

And, if anybody says DForce will be a classic, I'm going to punch them in the face. Am i the only one that really detests that band?

No, I'm beginning to lose favor in them. Valley of the Damned is a great record and is DF's best to date. After that they start to get repetitive. I'm going to give them one more shot before I totally lose faith in them.

I just really can't stand them. I find them to be easily one of the most over-rated bands in the scene at the moment.

Speed isn't everything.

Honestly, I find that all of their songs sound the same. If you played any two or three of their songs at the same time, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

See, I'm just a bitch about this band, though. I hate them. Me debating it is pointless.

here are some problems with your argument

1)every dragonforce song is the EXACT SAME SHIT PLAYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH ZERO EMOTION OR MUSICAL SUBSTANCE
2)Symphony X is a million times superior to both dream theater and dragonforce in terms of songwriting and emotion
3)Dragonfarce = massive fraud, they can't even play their solos live. Michael romeo is a million times better guitarist than those faggets

Dragonfarce = joke and is one of the worst bands in the history of metal

you are 100% correct. Dragonfarce is awful.

Awww, some agreement in terms of Dragonforce. I disagree about DT, however, but that's another story.

As for Dragonforce, you are completely correct. When they play live, they can't play their solos. Which, of course, leads one to believe that they record their solos in the studio and then speed them up. I just hate that.

This reminds me of when Alexi Laiho was god to so many people. Yawn.

Queensryche released a few good albums.

Wait, wait. Hahaha, I don't mean to make my opinion into fact but Daniel IS one of the best vocalists in modern music today. Few people (today, Jeff Buckley, Beefheart, and Tim Buckley obviously had greater range) can claim to possess the range he has and the emotive quality he is known for.

It is one thing to not like him, but to think he sucks is kind of pushing the envelope to ignorance. I'm sure even Dodens who dislikes the band can admit that Daniel has a good voice :p

All of those bands I mentioned are better than both Dream Theater and Symphony X. Queensryche may've only released a few good albums but that is impressive to Dream Theater's ONE good EP and Symphony X's two good albums.

Wait. Symphony X actually knows the value of the riff in metal and pulls them off quite well, Dream Theater are if anything the 'lite' band here.
