NEW BEHEMOTH

Haven't heard the actual album, but what I can make out from the youtube videos the mix seems pretty good. Most importantly however some of the songs seem to be among the best they've done so far, I also like that there are actually a bit more black metal influences this time.

Heard about 3 songs. Really nice mix, songs are boring and lame. Nothing interesting about them.
Still think the songs they created on Demigod & Zos Kia Cultus are really strong and great. Every other release (especially new ones) are really boring imo.

havent heard anything before demigod, so i cant comment on that, but demigod really bores me
the apostasy is nigh on perfect apart from a few riffs that are of mega low quality and this is reaching a 7/10 so far for me
seems like it really dips around the middle D:
but the first 3 tracks are so apocalyptic tht it doesnt matter haha

I seriously don't feel the apocalyptic feel. To much vocal effects anyway, which spoils a lot for me. I can make stuff apocalyptic by put 20 vocal layers on top of eachother.. These last 2 albums just feel like random riffing and blasting on top of eachother.

Offcourse this is just my opinion :).. everybody has different feelings with music .. which is the beauty of music...

sorry, but i just gotta say one thing....

i can honestly say that i've NEVER downloaded any album whatsoever, and surely won't make an exception for this one - even though i'm dying to hear it! behemoth is one of the greatest bands EVER...

to all you guys downloading leaked versions....don't you remember the days where you were eagerly awaiting the release of your favorite band's new album, and the enjoyment you felt when you finally held it in your hands?
that feeling is priceless to me....

the only album i ever felt that way about was staind - break the cycle
i am forgiven for that because i was 10, and didnt know what blogspot and torrents were back then, and had horrible, horrible taste

Guitars were reamped with randall ultra xl and 5150mk3. They initially tracked 6 tracks apparently but I don't know if they all made it to the mix

Holy shit, seriously? So that Road King, Uberschall, Diezel, and Samitone in the studio vids were all scrapped? At least now I don't feel so bad being "meh" about the tone :D

+1
Don't really like the album. Lot of songs are really similar. I prefered the Apostasy a lot. I prefered the mix on the Apostasy too.

What??
Not @ Josh: I haven't heard the album yet to form an opinion but what the fuck was the point of using the hertz guys then?

Excuse me if I seem pissed off.

Jup.. Kind of retarted, i also presume Colin allready knew he was going to reamp.

It kind of sad to see that eventhough its pretty apparent that a band spends alot of time on it own sound, thats completely ignored, a band is also its own sound right?
On the other they wouldn't hire Colin for nothing.

yeah...kinda strange to hire some of the best engineers out there to record some killer guitar sounds (with some killer gear), only to have it reamped later on.

even though that kinda seems like common practice as of right now (chimaria resurrection dvd comes to mind...i actually liked the recto tones they got with suecof, but andy reamped anyways (not talking shit about that mind you))....kinda wonder why they don't just track DI's like many people around here do if they*ll have it mixed (and reamped) anyways...would save quite some $$ wouldn't it?
strange world...

I for one really love the mix and the music. It's a lot more black metal than the previous two CDs, which is quite cool since they were really heavy on the death metal and not so much the black metal.

+1 I really dig this mix. It's very different for Behemoth, but it works for them in my opinion.

I've yet to really judge the songs, but I'm gonna put this album into heavier rotation this week.

Hertz guitar tone=gold
Why don't use this?

Btw, DB amazing drum tone was replaced with EZdrummer kit:lol:
No seriously I can't understand why reamp all guitar after have Wieslawski work...

If it really is true that Colin entirely re-amped the tracks, then I can only assume that he's the kinda guy who's just really set in his ways (in terms of what he considers good tone) and IMO they just don't suit Behemoth that well. It's a damn fine mix, I won't deny, I'm just being picky and obsessive :D (and a little let-down, considering how many top-class people were involved in this)
