I ended up picking up Testament - Seen Between The Lines on DVD. The concert footage isn't the best audio quality but the music videos and the band footage from Tokyo is absolutely hilarious. Very interesting.

Megadeth - Killing Is My Business
wonderful. :headbang:
i got the 3-disc reissue of fates warning's awaken the guardian. it has the remastered album, a demo/live compilation disc, and dvd footage of the only live recorded concert with the awaken the guardian lineup. wonderful as well.

Testament and Warrel Dane are on the radar... but I'll get them when I find them...

I picked these up at Powerfest...

Ayreon -- 01011001
Jon Oliva's Pain - Global Warning
Sacred Reich - Ignorance/Surf Nicaragua Reissue with bonus DVD (I hope they get around to doing this with the rest of their catalog... at least up to Independent
Zero Hour - Dark Deceiver

What!?!?!??!?! You got that this weekend? I did not see that at his table.

When did you look? I did all my cd shopping during Paganfest at the venue (minus the Impulse stuff of course) if you looked on Saturday they might of been all out.

I went to buy the new Testament album today, the record store didn't have it, so I bought King Diamond - A Dangerous Meeting instead. It's a compilation album of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond songs - 16 in all totalling 1 hour 17 minutes. And I only paid $4 for it! They had "The Eye" for the same price, but didn't buy it (though I am thinking about it - so any input would be nice). It's from 1992 and had no reviews on metal archives; but I bought it anyway. Here's the tracklist:

Mercyful Fate
1. Doomed By the Living Dead 05:08
2. A Corpse Without Soul 06:56
3. Evil 04:45
4. Curse of the Pharoahs 03:58
5. A Dangerous Meeting 05:11
6. Gypsy 03:08
7. Come to the Sabbath 05:18
King Diamond
8. The Candle 06:42
9. Charon 04:17
10. Halloween 04:14
11. No Presents For Christmas 04:21
12. Arrival 05:28
13. Abigail 04:51
14. Welcome Home 04:37
15. Sleepless Nights 05:04
16. Eye of the Witch 03:49

Total playing time 01:17:47

Great coverart, too!

The weekend haul:

Atrocity-Atlantis
Xandria-Kill the Sun
Mago de Oz-Rarezas
Pagan Reign-Drevnie Voin
Darkwell-Suspiria
Windir-Likferd
Norther-N
Fountain of Tears-Fate
Eluveitie-Slania

Some discs I've picked up the past few weeks:

Morrigon - Celts: Meh. These guys are pretty hyped on the Heathen board so I tracked a disc down and purchased. It's OK, but I don't think it's worthy of all the praise thrown it's way.
Firewind - The Premonition: Wow! This CD rips! Easily one of the CD's getting the most play by me.
Death Angel - Killing Season: Great stuff. I like this a little better than The Ary of Dying.
Circle II Circle - Watching in Silence: Why I never got into these guys befoer, I'll never know. I've seen them live a couple times and they did absolutely nothing for me, but this CD is really good.
Korpiklaani - Korvent Kuningas: It's Korpiklaani which means quality! Good disc.
Moonlyght - Shining: I liked their first disc more.
Folkearth - Father of Victory: This is my second Folkearth disc - and probalby the last. They just don't click with me for some reason. I don't know if it's the different vocal styles being layered on top of one another that sound out of time or what, but I'm just not a fan.
The Sword - Gods of the Earth: Pretty good doomyish metal. Not bad for a $8 pick up at Best Buy.
Forefather - The Fighthing Man: Awesome!
Rage - Carved in Stone: It's Rage so that means high quality metal.
Pharoah - Be Gone: Another good CD from this band. It's starting to be my favorite of the 3.
Heidevolk - Walhalla Wacht: I've never heard this band before but have heard them talked up quite a bit - they don't disappoint. Really good catchy folk metal.
Warrel Dane - Praises to the War Machine: Holy crap this CD is awesome! I wasn't sure what to expect, thought maybe it would sound like Nevermore - but it doesn't. I don't think it's as complicated or intricate as Nevermore.
Dawnbringer - Unbleed: Blind buy - good melodic/prog deathish metal.
Zimmers Hole - When You Were Shouting at the Devil... We Were in League With Satan: I picked this up from Century Media for $10 just to check it out - I'm really glad I did. This has bunch of different styles like thrash, black, and death metal with a little NWOBHM thrown in for good measure. They don't take themselves too seriously (just check out the CD title and tracks like Hair Doesn't Grow on Steel and The Vowel Song) and Nathan Explosion makes an appearance reading (very poorly) a public service message about the benefits of reading (so you can get turned on by reading porn mags). Really good stuff.

I went back to pick up King Diamond - The Eye, and they didn't have it anymore... But they had Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath instead for $8! So I picked it up and am currently rocking out to it.

It's the 1997 remastered version with the Death Kiss (Demo) track on it, too.

In the past few days:

Iron Maiden-Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden-Brave New World
Within Temptation-The Heart of Everything
Testament-The Legacy
Death-Individual Thought Patterns
Tarja-My Winter Storm

Warrel Dane - Praises to the War Machine

How is this?

Do you buy your CDs online or do you shop at a local store?

I tend to avoid online shopping. The other day I picked up the new Cavalera Conspiracy disc at Best Buy. Had a little trouble finding it there and almost walked out in disgust, but there it was - the only copy there - stashed away in the unmarked miscellaneous "C" section. I'm wondering if I go into BB for the Dane disc if I'll find it under "W" or "D" or somewhere else, if at all. I'm sure Mark probably has it at Metal Haven but I don't want go down there for one disc. Maybe this would be a good time to see if I can finally find the front door to Impulse. Hopefully they have it there, too. :loco:

Mr Q?

How is this?

Do you buy your CDs online or do you shop at a local store?

I shop online. Best Buy and Circuit City are the only places around here to get cd's (I live in Buffalo Grove, the lake county side). With gas prices being so high, I really don't want to drive around all the time making trips to Impulse, etc. So it's easier to click a few buttons and buy a few discs online each month. Plus the prices are decent online for some albums too.

Sometimes I get lucky - I did find the Cavalera cd at Best Buy in April.

As for the Warrel Dane cd, I like it so far. I'm sure it will grow on me once I get some time for devoted listens. Haven't given it some hard listens, since it showed up today and I only listed to it at work, but it's awesome to hear Warrel in a different capacity than Nevermore. Most songs are 3:30 to 4 min long. The Sisters of Mercy cover rules.

Musically, it's much more simplistic with most of the songs co-written with Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork). So those are the riffs you're getting. Very catchy stuff!
