New Metallica song "Day That Never Comes"

Are you kidding me? THIS...is Metallica? That once great band? It's not the bit rate/quality of the clip...it just sounds like crap. Sorry. You can bash on me all you want, but to me it sounds like a rough mix of some one trying to do something sort of resembling a Metallica song. My first thought was, what in the hell is this? But then again, I gave up on them when Load came out. To each his own.

Ok maybe I'll get my ass handed to me for saying this ...

just listened to it again. When the song kicks up the tempo, I'm seriously hearing an almost Helloween sound to it all

I love Helloween, I apologize for nothing!
 
This album is supposed to be a mix of all Metallica eras. And it sounds like it.
Be it good or bad is hard to say after a few spins of only two songs released...

All I can say is that it is yet again a step into another direction, certainly not back to the roots but WAY better than St. Crapper.

This track does sound a bit amateurish (playing-wise) but that's prolly because they're trying to put a bit
of Kill 'em All, Justice, Load and St. Anger in there which doesn't seem to work that well, IMHO.
But I'm positive that there's at least 1-2 tracks on the record that I'm gonna dig a lot, it's not like that anyone expects them to release a masterpiece, is it?
 
As Carcass 29 pointed out, the myspace one is pretty decent quality.

First thing I noticed, damn that snare is loud.

Second thing I noticed, although not amazing, seriously kicks St dAnger's ass.

I really liked the Load albums, I liked Hetfields singing, I'm not sure what happened, but it saddens me a little.

Still, I rather enjoyed the song.

That thing they have at the myspace page is complete garbage with no passion, enthusiasm or heaviness whatsoever. The guitar melody sounds like Apulanta (the Finns here will know) :lol:
 
I signed up for Mission:Metallica Platinum so i just got the mp3 download and fuck me is it horrible. Look at this:

I really like the song myself but all i can think is why the fuck not make it listenable?
 
It's not a popular opinon to have about Metallica here but i love this song, but fuck why cant people master things so they aren't at the very max level possible.

This mastering makes Adam sad. Why must i have ears that work?! :cry:

Seriously though the MP3 sounds like a radio rip its that bad. But then, i got a great kick out of turning down the Machine Head's "Aesthetics Of Hate" rockband multi's and hearing it without distortion *cough* and vocals *cough*
 
well i heard it on myspace and the song is cool but you can hear the clipping kind of. it sucks. but the song is very good. mad justice/black crossover.


what's up with ted jensens metal work? chimaira was really distorted as well.


mix wise i don't know how crazy i am about the sound maybe it's because we are so used to either very 80's thrashy mixes or the randy staub full mixes with metallica. this is like in between and very raw. the rhythm parts are kind of intentionally sloppy. it's like they were going for the kill em all vibe maybe?
