New Metallica song "Day That Never Comes"

No, you said it might be in C

which is strange if you are a musician/AE

If it wasn't in standard, then the possible tuning that it may be in would likely be C as St Anger is in C.

But it doesn't matter at the tune is in E.

Video ;

Oh, and btw - if the guitars are tuned in E, and then they make an "Em" shape, then it produces the sound of Em.
That means that when Kirk plays his Em shape - and it sounds like E, therefore the tuning must be E. No?

So, not C then? ;)

I know that Metallica have always played live in Eb, but since the original discussion is about the recorded version - I can only presume that it'll have been recorded in E.
But hey, it's only half a step - a lot closer than C.

oh my god, did i?
my english is bad, but not that bad.
i meant and i said as explained (i can't believe i had to:rolleyes:) in my last post.
i picked E and C just as an example btw.

It really doesn't matter what they TRY to release IMO. The guys are obviously in totally different states of mind than they were back in the day. While it has already been said (and photographed), the people they are now would never be able to write these types of songs any more- the ideas and ideology (youth, drink, drugs, angst, etc) behind them obviously doesn't exist anymore.

I haven't heard the whole record yet, but this still made me laugh (from Blabbermouth):

Lars Ulrich (drums): "I can honestly say that this album is the best album we could possibly have made. Can I guarantee that people will like it as much as they like our older albums? No, I can't; I can't offer any guarantees. But I promise you that we could not have made a better album."

I suppose they didnt have family life/kids and all that money to spend back in the day, just too many distractions! When they release a new album now they're not thinking about out doing iron maiden's latest or the groupie shags, its all about the latest lambo pulling up on the drive in CA : D

Hmmm... bits and bobs are ok I guess. The first half isn't too bad.. but when it kicks into the One guitar parts over the Seek And Destroy drums followed by the Stone Cold Crazy solo, it gets a bit embarassingly rehashed.

like everyone else has said, it needs to be far more refined rather than random riff x4 followed by random riff x4 etc etc... and that pull-off stop start riff that dominates the outro is horrible... There's too many "my-first-metal-band-riffs". Not original, well played or technical enough to be exciting.

James' vocals - auto-tuned or not - sound ok, and best when he goes high. I enjoyed them enough.
I'd say overall, it's better than St Anger. With refinement it could have been "up there" with reload.

Holy shit!

What´s going on here? It´s just another record not the discovery of the thirteenth tone in the scale. Who cares if it´s good or not?
Metallica will sell millions of copies of it. The fans will love it - the haters will hate it. So there´s nothing new.
Calm down, it´s just another band releasing another album. :heh:
