Well they have never come here. One day....... I'll take out a huge bank loan, and pay for them to come here. Then declare bankruptcy.

Just saw an interview with Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree, for those who don't know) and he said he's been in talks with Katatonia about producing their new album.

Magnificent news, if you ask me.

Ps. Hope this hasn't been mentioned here earlier.

So is this interview online or...?

I don't know... I'm more with D3v on this, I like Katatonia's progression as is. I'm not saying it wouldn't work with SW, just maybe on the NEXT next record. :p

@ stefan - Now I think SW working w/ Tool would be fantastic. I disagree with the "one-dimensional" line but I think that a collaboration of the two would be very promising. Too bad Maynard and Co. would probably never consider it since they seem to only work amongst themselves. But that's what makes them Tool afterall.

Things are getting very interesting now. Never thought this would actually come about but he sounded like it was something that could very likely happen. This next record is going to be great.

I'd love to hear Steven Wilson produce a Katatonia record! But Tool... errr... I can't see it. Tool has always sort of been in their own, weird world. I doubt that they'd ever let someone come in and produce their album.

I just thought it was cool how he actually thinks of bands that way; like "hmm I could really do something with this band". And I kinda agree that they are one dimensional. They're one of those bands where I listen to a few songs now and then and really love it, but it never works full time so to speak.

I will never understand why Tool is viewed with such reverence. Mr. Wilson would surely be a great improvement.
It would be interesting to see what he could do with Katatonia. I like their last albums, especially TGCD, but it doesn't hurt to try something new. I can appreciate experimentation.

or how about the TGCD dynamics meeting LFDGD, some real heavy riffs that are not groove-based along with the atmosphere? ;)

TGCD dynamics?

Its has two levels - soft/ambient soundscapes and megaphadt hardhitting mesa boogie with triggersounding (if they really are triggered, I dont care, they sure as hell sound triggered) drums, I'd rather see a whole gradiant of dynamics, as found on LFDGD. And yes, all chuggin' gone please. This being said TGCD has some good songs (Journey True Pressure, Rusted, July, My Twin)
