Next Testament CD

"Re-recording a classic title track" would imply it's a Testament track, and that it was already recorded once. Not a cover.

Not that it matters in any way.

I don't like the antler and horns on the cover. Looks like a some Jägermeister art. Best cover for me was SOB and FOTD. But it`s a nice collection of classic cover songs. Never thought they will do a Dickinson era cover song. Anyone heard Kreator doing Number of the beast?

Hope we will get a song soon or at least some snippets.

The cover is alright but it doesn't feel like Testament to me.I kind of thought it would look more forbodding. The title is evil, the cover...eh It looks like the cover of some new band.
But then again I didn't love TFOD cover either. But I'm very happy at what it signifies..new music!!!

Does anyone think they will come out with different album packages? or should I hurry up and order the digi pack with the belt?I don't really need the belt but I want all the bonus stuff in cd form.Hopefully in a jewel case lol.
They must have more coming right? the one with the belt says it's limited to 1000.That's isn't vey many at all.

Amazing cover! Ditto about the classic logo, though. The new one's ok, but nothing when compared to the old. As for the remake, I mentioned TNO is unlikely. Come on, they re-did it on FSSD. Why re-redo it?

EDIT: Just checked Bbm out. Can anyone explain to me the purpose of having two different release dates for Europe and the US? I'm no expert but this shouldn' help the first week sales in the latter (glad the gap's not as long as in the case of the last Heathen album). The album will have been out for 4 days already and some of the most hardcore fans will have purchased it in Europe, while some other will have downloaded it or at least checked it out and postpone the purchase for some reason. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't one, common release date create a bigger expectation and buzz throughout the world, which results in an explosion of sales during the first days following the release?

Europe and the US always have different release dates. New release day in the US is always a Tuesday (with very minor exceptions). New release day in Europe is usually a Monday but they've got nutty rules over there too.

The Japanese version will have all the bonus tracks. It was that way for the Lacuna Coil disc, which had all 8 of the iTunes bonus tracks and also for Jeff Loomis, which had the 2 Euro digipak bonus tracks. It's going to cost around $30 before shipping, but you'll get the bonus tracks and it will also be in a jewel case as the Japanese seem to really hate digipaks as much as we do. The place I usually order from is www.cdjapan.co.jp. The pre-order isn't up yet (probably won't be until mid to late June if it comes out at the same time).

I remember seeing various members of Testament posing with some fan art for DROTE that was a lot better than the official artwork. I still like the new artwork but I think it could've been better. This reminds me of something that could be on an Amon Amarth album.

Does anyone know what $34.99 Eur is in US?

$44.52

Don't forget, you have to pay shipping also and that's probably going to be just as much. I was going to buy the mail order pack for the OverKill CD and it would've cost me over $100 total to buy it. That was just too much for me. You also might want to wait and see if the US shop gets it (they got the Kreator pack).

I'm guessing that that's all the bonus tracks. As I said earlier, the Japanese one will most likely have all those tracks (be shocked if they didn't) and it will be in a jewel case. I'd just wait for that one, especially if you care more about having a jewel case w/bonus tracks and NOT having a belt buckle.

That's why you only buy some from NB europe when there's a lot of things you want, because shipping is always the same

I did buy the NB mailorder edition of Accept's Stalingrad that was limited to only 500. But I'm not sure I want to shell out the extra money just for a belt and buckle, which very likely wouldn't suit me anyway... :p

I guess all we can do now is patiently wait for "Native Blood" to rear it's head in the hopefully very near future. And by heck we Testament fans have had to be very patient of late!

Yeah, that is way to much and it's not like the band sees that. They were selling that belt buckle on the site before for $ 20 or under.
God that shit pisses me off.It always has and it always will,I remember paying $ 35 for the Japanese import of The Gathering
Back in 2000.There was no discription of what the bonus track was and it was not worth it.It's simple greed.

I'm going to wait for to see if the US gets any of this stuff.I know one thing I need those bonus tracks!

I'll be honest. Bands that put out different versions of CDs with different tracks to try to boost sales by getting avid fans to buy multiple copies of the same disc just encourages illegal downloading. Not saying that it justifies piracy, but I don't feel so bad about ripping off someone that is trying to rip me off.

You're acting as if the band has a say in it

Exactly. Aside from in exceptional cases, the band never has a say in decisions like that. It is all down to the record company. Once you've bought an album once, to me you own it. So if bonus tracks have been released on different versions of the same album you've bought, then if you can find those bonus tracks and download them for free, then to me, that is justified. However, not buying the album at all is theiving, and I don't agree with that at all.

Who is trying to rip you off? And, for that matter, can you name ONE band that has put out multiple versions of a disc with different bonus tracks for multiple regions? I know of one that's done it and that's it and I've been collecting variant pressings for almost 20 years now. The band in question had different bonus tracks for England, Australia and Japan but you were able to eventually get all of them if you bought the Japanese copy and one single that was released in Japan.

Australia used to be one of the worst offenders of the multiple release game. First they'd give you a disc with a couple bonus tracks and then 6 months later they gave you a "tour edition" that came with a live EP. That was during the 90s and into the early 2000s and you rarely see it anymore. The Taiwan pressings used to have the same shit but nobody buys them because they sound like crap.

And, for that matter, can you name ONE band that has put out multiple versions of a disc with different bonus tracks for multiple regions?

I can name several bands, actually. Here's 2 examples right off the bat:

Gamma Ray's last album had 3 different versions with exclusive extras. There was a limited edition CD that came with a "making of" DVD, but no bonus tracks. A "collector's edition" that came with the CD plus a bonus 7" vinyl that contained 2 bonus tracks, but no DVD. The Japanese edition also came with 2 bonus tracks. One of which was on the 7" vinyl, but the other was exclusive to the Japanese edition only. So both the collector's edition and the Japanese release contained one bonus track that was available with that version only.

Napalm Death's latest album had 4 bonus tracks but all of them were exclusive to specific versions of the album. A limited edition CD featured the bonus tracks "Everything In Mono" and "Aim Without An Aim". The vinyl edition featured the bonus track "Standardization", and the Japanese release featured the bonus track "It Failed To Explode". So, to obtain all 4 bonus tracks, you'd have to buy 3 different editions of the same album.

You also mentioned "tour editions". Helloween's "Gambling With The Devil" had a US tour edition released a few months after the album's original release which contained a bonus track which was exclusive to the tour edition only. The album's original release itself contained 2 exclusive bonus tracks on the 2-disc Digipak version, and the Japanese version contained 1 bonus track that was exclusive to that version only. So again, you would need to buy 3 different editions of that album to get all the bonus tracks.

This practice is very much in abundance, and has only grown more so in recent years.
