NFL 2009

I've found myself disagreeing with you quite a lot on what you've thought were bullshit calls over the past season, actually.

 Once again...blinders and ignorance. Please don't ever again mention that DB Rivers and Brady in the same sentence...even you should know better than that!

The facts, wich I like to state unlike some...Brady was rusty as expected and shakey at times...yet was still Tom terrific. Especially at the end delivering two clutch scoring drives for the win. He did not "play like shit for most"...and even in some eyes if he did (wich he didn't) he still was heroic in the end. Of course he was handed the game and oppurtunity from "choking Buffalo" right?...wrong! The Pats simply fooled the Bills by disguising the onside kick, wich didn't allow for Buffs best return team and then kicked deep. Another brilliant coaching move from Bill B., there is a reason that Gruden (who would have on-side kicked) is now in the booth and Bill is still on the sidelines. Then the Pats did what great teams practice and carry-out...a great stick by Merriweather and then the 2nd guy comes in and strips the ball. Sure, the dummy returner should have taken a knee, but the Pats simply caused the turnover and made the play and took advantage of the opp. Nothing was choked or handed to them.

I'll be the first to say (with hatred at said teams but without ignorance & blinders) that the Jets have a great chance to win this week against the Pats and I wouldn't be surprised if a Peyton carves up the Pats 'D' down the road? Pats still seem vulnerable and a bit rusty. Yet, they have many weapons and great potential to win again.

1) Why do you visit a metal forum solely to talk about sports?

2) I wasn't necessarily talking about you, but your post did seem to have some contradictions between being aware of weaknesses and being oblivious to the fact that the Patriots are very lucky to be 1-0 right now.

Thanks for replying the proper way.

Its not just sports...I have and will gladly talk (usually) about movies, tv, band rec.s / reviews, old school etc. I guess being a diehard Boston fan (and the target that comes here with it) and a sports fan in general just leads me to discuss sports more.

I do think its fair to mention concerns and weaknesses about our teams but to also comment on a game, moments or somehow winning...wether its heroic, lucky, fortunate etc. Sure it was an improbable win, but it was a forced fumble...not like the guy just dropped or fiddled the ball away. Plays still had to made in the end and were that resulted in winning.

The Ravens are going to make the Chargers look silly!

If that game showed anything they are very vulnerable to the the screen and well the Jets have Leon Washington so it is kind of a winning combination for the Jets.

Plus Revis SHUT ANDRE JOHNSON THE FUCK DOWN! He should be able to at least take Moss out of the game for some time.

I like Revis, but I think it was more of a team effort.

Apparently you don't know the rules, then. Illegal contact cannot be called within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Corners can jam receivers at the line all the want unless a ball is thrown to them. Touching someone who isn't involved in the play while running down field should not be called, especially when the contact had zero influence in anything. A rule like that is ridiculous.

Baskett is a pretty solid receiver.

1) I didn't say I disagreed with you about this call.
2) No, you shouldn't be allowed to interfere with a receiver 15 yards down the field if the ball isn't thrown to him and it doesn't affect the play. "Apparently you don't know the rules." Anyway, you can thank Mel Blount for that rule.

Most of the time, the calls I've seen were not obvious, the were extremely borderline. Touching a receiver does not mean you interfere with him. If you tackle him or push him or whatever (Al Harris has done this plenty of times) then yeah I can see where that should be called but not if the contact is minimal at best. And also, all borderline calls at key points in the game should be reviewable.

EDIT: Usually the calls on Harris are within the 10 yard mark

Adam Schefter tweeted that the Colts are going to sign former Eagles WR Hank Baskett today.

Any Eagles fans have the skinny on Baskett?

I think he's got good size 6'4 220 and he's a nice redzone threat but he has no speed and he tends to round out his routes. his hands are questionable but he's a good blocker.

bottom line he's nothing special but I think he's a good role player.

The rule is 5 yards. Either way, that play on Monday was within 5 yards, so it shouldn't have been called anyway. I really don't care what you think is bullshit on what you acknowledge as borderline calls. Borderline calls seem to be what people on this forum get most up in arms about, when realistically a call could have been argued fairly either way. As for bullshit calls, the pass interference call on Troy Polamalu was bullshit, even though it was offset. If anything, that play should've been offensive pass interference.

Here's a video on the Harris call btw: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-netwo...12adc0c/Official-Review-Week-1-bonus-coverage

I just think game changing calls need more oversight.

"I don't worry about criticism," Tomlin said. "If those are his observations then I accept those. He's paid to entertain and I'll let him do what he does. If Bussy wants to help us with those issues, let him know I have a helmet and a locker space available."

I have to admit, Tomlin is an awesome coach.

He really is. At first I was annoyed that Rooney decided to bring in this random guy from outside of the organization instead of promoting Whisenhunt, but I quickly changed my mind after a few press conferences.
