NFL 2009

Malcom Jenkins will play FS for them most likely, which'll allow for them to get rid of Kaeshavarn's mediocre self. Tracy Porter solidified himself as a CB who should be starting, he just got injured part way into the season. With him they would've have won 1 or 2 more games and had a playoff spot possibility.

You really do underestimate this team, I mean back in '06 no one was going on about how they'd be an remotely good team and yet they had an turned around from 3-13 and went 10-6. Going from 8-8 to 10-6 or even 11-5 isn't that out of reach, especially considering that they're getting two free wins against the Bucs. (All NFC South teams are really, but still.)

Their '09 matchups.
Bolded are the should be wins.

@Home vs. Cowboys
@Home vs. Lions
@Home vs. Falcons

@Home vs. Panthers
@Home vs. Jets
@Home vs. Bucs

@Home vs. Pats
@Home vs. Giants
@Panthers
@Dolphins
@Falcons
@Bills
@Bucs
@LOLSkins

@Eagles
@Rams

11-5 schedule imo, though the games against the Panthers could go either way making them possibly 13-3 or 12-4 but I'm just going to err on the side of caution and say they lose both games.

Looks like 8-8 to me.
I remember last year you said they would win the Super Bowl, too. You're just an annoying homer.

Weren't you the one who so adamantly supported the idea that the team that won was the better team? I hope so, because that would make this even more funny.

It's a good thing has nothing to do with anything. This is a new season. Besides, iirc the Colts beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. I'm sure you'll just say that doesn't mean anything though.

The regular season doesn't mean anything in the playoffs.

FTR, I am not Colts bashing, I am just stating things how I see them. Peyton is a much better QB than "Big Ben" but that defense is just ridiculous.

I'm not saying the regular season has any bearing on anything. But it is still a game that they played. So discounting it completely is just wrong.

Without turning this into too much of a whinefest on my part, the Colts had a chance to go up to Pittsburgh again, and based off of the regular season game, I thought the Colts had a pretty good chance to win the game. But it didn't happen, so it's a moot point.

I can't see the Cowboys beating them nor the Dolphins. Perhaps it was a bit of a dumb move to give them the win over the Falcons @ Atlanta, but they can do it especially if the new coaching staff is any decent

11-5 imo

Maybe not all the way, but definitely playoff contenders. I also totally forgot we signed Jabari Greer, who hopefully will be a good player for us.

When you guys don't have a generous sieve for a defense you might go somewhere.

Most of our off-season moves so far have been geared towards fixing that defense.

We've effectively fixed our CB situation, our LB core is still a tad weak but is decent, if we get Malcom Jenkins our safety issue will be gone, etc.

Despite our obvious coaching short comings, the Cowboys will still beat teams who can't play defense i.e. New Orleans.
Don't give me this crap about how the Saints are so much better than us. We lost last year because of stupid mental lapses in big moments, and the Saints are just as notorious for that as we are. We were better than you guys last year, and I don't see any difference this year.

If I wasn't so sure that something retarded will happen in 3-4 games that will turn those games in to awful and embarrassing losses, I would predict 11 or so wins for the Cowboys just based off their performance this year and, other than losing TO, we've gotten better personnel wise this offseason. But, I can see games like Arizona, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and to an extent St. Louis happening all over again, and we'll end up with 8-9 wins again.

Again... A ROOKIE defensive back will not fix your secondary problems. He might be good in the years to come, but he's going to be mediocre at best in his first season... just like every other rookie DB.
Jabari Greer?
Tracy Porter?
Dan Morgan's Corpse?
These guys are going to fix those giant holes in your defense? Have you seen any of these guys play, or are you just looking at their fancy names? Your defense will be just as bad, and you'll have to hope Brees can single-handedly win you some games, which is possible, but that's not worth more than 7 wins, 8 at the absolute most.

Haven't you guys learned that going apeshit in free agency doesn't build a good team? The draft is where it's at. Free agency is to be used for finishing touches, or to put you over the hump.

I watched the five games that Porter played in and he was absolutely a breath of life for that defense. Sure, the rest of the defense was pretty exploitable but when weren't they?

Greer wasn't much more than a situational player, but we need players who can fortify the defense in any way and he is an upgrade for us considering our lack of defensive depth.

Dan Morgan might not be as good as he was in the '04 season, but if his injuries are healed as much as he says they are then I believe he will be a valuable asset to our team.

And sure a rookie might not be the best at first, but not all rookies DBs are horrible in their first season (look at Ed Reed and Charles Woodson for this.) He'll be decent enough for the Saints and a ready replacement for Kaesviharn.

I don't think Jabari Greer and Dan Morgan's Corpse constitute "going apeshit" :lol:
Btw, can I get some honest opinions on the TO release? 2 weeks and I still can't figure out how I feel about this. According to sources in the locker room, Jason Garrett is excited and his play calling will improve without the pressure of trying to get him the ball, and Tony Romo has been relieved with the release. I dunno, that's great, but it's just hard for me to believe that losing a 1000 yard game changing receiver is going to benefit the team.

I am still mixed myself for the same reasons. If nothing else, this season will prove whether or not T.O. was good or bad for the Cowboys.

Yeah, at least it gives us something to be excited about this year. I didn't think that the chemistry was the problem as much as stupid mistakes, horrible play calling, and awful luck with injuries, but all the chemistry problems from last year have been fixed, apparently. So, at least we'll find out once and for all if that was indeed the problem. Nobody really has any excuses this year. I hope to god that was the problem, because I'm tired of watching shitty teams in every sport.
I'd like to think that Roy Williams can fill that void left by TO on the offensive end. There are times when he was with Detroit that I thought he was one of the best receivers in football, and apparently the front office seems to think so as well. If he can step up with a big 75-80 catch and 1100 yard season, I think the running game can carry the offense otherwise. They're apparently looking at Brian Robiske in the 2nd round, and I've heard nothing but great things from scouts about him. If Austin can continue to improve, and with Crayton continuing to perform the way he did when he was the 2nd receiver, I'm hopeful that Owens won't be missed too much.
