Hello there! The hassle with the media seems to have died. We´ve been off tour for some months and we´ve had a nice and long vacation. It´s time to get back in business:

Nightwish is currently and actively looking for a new singer/front woman for the band. We need the obvious things: Looks , charisma, courage and, of course, a big voice. Good grasp of the English language is also very helpful. We don´t necessarily need a classically trained vocalist like Tarja Turunen (the former vocalist). We welcome all kinds of styles and voices, natural and trained, from rock and pop to classical, and all that you can find in between. You should however be prepared to sing with a lot of dynamics and versatility. From loud and high to very sensitive stuff. You should preferably send us a cd containing 2-3 songs, that you consider to be your best work. If you send an album, would you mark out 2-3 most important songs, please? If you record and send Nightwish songs, then the most important thing is your PERSONAL TOUCH. Photographs are needed as well.

We will look into different applications and all candidates, but doing it this way would save us some time and energy. If you think you have it, just send your stuff to our management, and we´ll be happy to take you onboard.
Here´s the address. Good luck!

Looks , charisma, courage and, of course, a big voice. Hmm that applies to either Sixxi or Bryant, wanna apply? :p

I really don't think Nightwish are going to find a new vocalist anytime soon. The whole concept of the band was based around having a classicaly trained opera singer as a frontwoman and finding one of those is not going to be easy. Wether you liked Nightwish or not, it was undeniable that Tarja Turunen had one impressive voice!
Any new vocalist they find will inevitably be compared to Tarja and that will overshadow the quality of the music as a whole which I'm sure will be of the same caliber as their previous albums since their main songwriter is still in the band. People will say "The music's good, but..."

I wouldn't say that Tarja had an "impressive" voice, she had classicaly trained voice and nothing else... I'd say that there's hundreds of singers of her quality, just not every one of them is interested in participating in a metal band.

I think their biggest challenge is finding a girl with enough versatility to carry the band forward with her own style while still being able to reproduce the old Tarja songs. No easy feat. But it can be done, though. Arjen Lucassen continues to find unkown singers with loads of talent. I think Marcela Bovio could be a good fit for Nightwish, but Arjen found her first.

Where's Pat Benatar?

ZING!

I think Irene Janssen (Floor's sister) will be cool but as I guess that Tuomas it's very difficult to work with I won't be pushing anyone to take that slot.

Maybe Angela Gossow... :heh:

You hit the nail right on the head. I agree that there are many singers of her quality, but all of them in the opera field, where Tarja herself might be considered nothing special as a singer. Finding a female opera singer that's into metal, now THAT'S a challange!

:) I think they'd be looking for somebody a bit younger and "fresh", although I like Pat myself, she rocks!

A lot of people were bashing Nightwish for their "looks" request, even though I myself also think that it is very shallow, lwt's get real... looks do matter and at least they are being honest about it and not beating around the bush.
