North American tour with LOG, As I Lay Dying, ..

I would do the same thing. At a bodom show or in any other similar situation where someone's toughing something like that out. I don't understand why everyone's so confused as to why he didn't quit the tour. This band, touring, music in general is obviously very important to the guy and the rest of the band. Anything that you care enough about you'll endure for- another great example from my own experience is as a hockey player. How often have you heard of hockey players breaking noses or fingers or anything else in the middle of a game and continue to play? I realize a broken shoulder is a bit more serious but it's the same idea. I've had players on my own team do this. And it's the same mindset. If you really care then you're going to say fuck the pain and just deal with it. I can honestly say that if I was in the same situation and I was physically able to continue playing guitar and singing, I would do it. But at the same time, it's like "what for?" if nobody appreciates it. That's why you gotta give him props. If there's ever a time he probably appreciates people going nuts and chanting "bodom," it's gotta be when he's just pushing his body's pain threshold to the max. Wouldn't you want some encouragment if you had to endure something like that?

You're right I confess. But of course you don't care for losing your face if the other option is losing your health for good.

Yeah, NYC should be very interesting indeed. I can't imagine Alexi really quiet, that's going to be weird. I'll see where I get to go, its not like backstage is a guarantee, I get lucky a lot, but I will try my best. We all want Alexi to be ok, but he really can't afford the time off. The money that COB makes is from touring, not from album sales. Yes, everyone wants a new album, but unless there are multiple tours there is no money to make new albums. Tours are what pays the bills. Just think of all the fees that a band has to pay. Regular management, tour management, video management, radio management, regular promotion management, each venue for a concert charges a floor fee, studio time, producer time, Spinefarm, whatever other labels around the world that release COB albums, the bus and driver, the crew. Everyone has to get paid and touring is the only way to fund it now. Ticket sales and merch revenue is what keeps a band in business. As much as Alexi might fear the mobility of his shoulder in continuing to play with it broken, the alternative may be worse. Trust me, I'm sure the label has its own doctor to evaluate the situation and what not. A band is an investment to a label, so the label probably checked it out themselves and are allowing him to continue. I don't think any of us truly knows what goes on in a professionally signed band and the stuff that they have to deal with. What we think is truly shitty in our lives is probably cake to Alexi right now.

Minus one class for Friday, let's see what happens with the rest of them.

Very true. But I don't think a broken bone is as serious as that. Maybe I'm wrong, I've never really broken a bone myself. Just a couple small fractures in my hand and one other slightly more serious injury... I'd be saying the same thing as you if he had a punctured lung or something hahaha.

Just found this from a music news website theprp.com
Children Of Bodom guitarist Alexi Laiho has broken his shoulder as a result of his bands tour bus taking a sharp turn which caused him to come crashing out of his bunk. Speaking on the injury, he offered the following:
"Four nights ago I fell out of my bunk in the tour bus and came down pretty damn hard as the driver was taking a sharp turn. It turns out I have a broken shoulder as well as internal bleeding. I am going through a great deal of pain every second that I am awake. However, I can still play the guitar and I will give everything I have to try to finish this tour and play every remaining show! I would just like to apologize in advance for not being able to move around or sing with my full power at all times and I hope the COB fans understand. What can I say? I'm jinxed! End of story. See you out there."

The internal bleeding part scares me because that is not safe at all. Now I wonder if it is the right decision for him to stay.

God that sounds so fucking painful :erk:..must have been a pretty accute turn to throw someone out of bed.Poor guy  The internal bleeding bit is probs in his chest which would explain the major difficulties with putting power into the vocals and that. I wouldn't worry about the permanancy of the injury or anything like that though, its obviously hell now but I doubt the label would chance him potentially fucking him self up permanently, def not worth it,the cost of pulling out would be NOTHING in comparison for them either.
He shouldn't feel bad about not putting on an excellent show all the time,we know the accident wasn't even his fault, people understand and it's not like they're putting on shitty performances either. What I've heard is still damn good :kickass: Get well soon Allu :)

Thanks for posting this Xanina. I was wondering what really happened :) Internal bleeding doesn't sound good.

Thanks Xanina. It sounds more serious than it appeared at first. I have every respect for Alexi's decision to try and finish
the tour, but I hope he will also know when it makes more sense to put his health first. Take care of yourself and get well soon, Alexi.

Im sure a doc okayed that he could play if he felt ok and up for it. Of course 100% rest would be preferable to the healing process as well as for him. They had the day off last night so thats good, and they have the 7th off as well before NY. And K-man says things are going better :headbang:

:kickass:

What makes me kinda unhappy is this:
"Against recommendation, Laiho has decided to remain on tour and will “bite the bullet” to give metal fans the electric live performances they have come to love from the Finnish act. ..."
That part is added at the myspace-blog.
I´d prefer reading something like "doctors confirm that he can still go on", not the opposite :erk:

Crap I didn't even see that part!..ok now I'm worried for him. :( :( Internal bleeding is really pretty dangerous..and if doctors advised him not to it's definately unsettling :erk:
