One thing I can't really do on a mac

All I'll say is... your Mac motherboard goes down (although they call it a logic board.. it's still a motherboard) ... well.. you're paying through the arse for a new one.

nope, will be free for me... i always buy the extended warranty... gives a total of 4 years coverage for anything that goes wrong. well worth it. anyone in business professionally, who bases their livelihood on their computer, should be doing the same.

How much was the coverage?

no.. i didn't.. you apparently read quite selectively.. and have little to no ability to discern the difference between me stating opinions and yourslf stating "facts"... very self-serviing attitude.

but yeah. i guess i've just been lucky... nevermind that in my circle of peers they must have all been just as "lucky" as me... chatted with Sneap on cam-chat yesterday... we both commented on how we're both still using the same laptops from over 4 years ago when i was at his place helping him out during the Nevermore TGE, and The Clan Destined album sesssions, and how neither of us feel any need to upgrade as our machines are still kicking ass and doing the job, even with the latest software updates... the mac lappys are still handling it fine. yeah.. he's just lucky too. him, me, and every working engineer i know... or at least the 90% of them that use Mac.

i don't doubt you've had loads of mac repairs.. but just as many??? i call absolute and total BULLSHIT on that. not unless you worked at a place that an apple store referred a lot of out of warranty business to. the tiny market-share of Apple compares to windows-based PCs would make that an impossibility even if macs were the worst POS ever manufactured.

Call bullshit on whatever you want. I worked at a repair center. I repaired everything under the sun and I never had a shortage of Apples coming across my bench.

In any case I'm done in here. I didn't mean to start all of this, just wanted to give you a taste of your own medicine. It's your sensitive bullshit that has even kept me posting. You're supposed to be metal as fuck.. Start acting like it Suzy!

Hope I didn't offend any Apple people as I like Apples too I'm just aware that the PC/Apple argument should only be a preference thing as they are both quite capable of doing anything you want.

Take it easy Sneapers! :headbang:

also i'll add to Mesa that average consumers that do not use their computers professionally take far less good care and maintenance of them.

i love how this guy barges in here and makes all sorts of elitist statements about how macs suck, when i'm just saying "apples and oranges" and trying to stop it going south down a well-trodden path in this forum. then when he's called on it he makes some "i work in computer repair therefore i know how it IS" comments and then bounces... and has the tits to say it's me being sensitive while he's on his way out the door. here's "metal as fuck" for ya: 90% of every killer metal record for the last decade has been made either on, or with the assistance of, some crappy, POS, elitist, social-status endowing Mac.

metal up your arse with that, Sally!

Absolutely dead on with that statement. It is insane how careless people are with laptops, regardless of cost.

As far as Apple laptops and repairs go. As a graduation gift from high school in 05, my parents got me a Powerbook (yeah...right before the transition /facepalm) and I had two issues with it. The battery was faulty and Apple sent me two new ones for some reason. Must have been a mistake sending me two. I also had an issue with my laptop where one of my sticks of RAM was not being recognized. I didn't have AppleCare but Apple fixed it for me free of charge. I have never (knock on wood) been disappointed in my machine. Wish I had an IntelMac though

James, how did you get four years cover? When I bought my MacBook, I got the Apple Care Protection Plan which only gave me three years cover. Hard drive failed twice, second time was outside of the extended warranty but easy to fix myself!

Haha, my thoughts exactly. I saw this one coming from the beginning and decided not to get involved. If only others could do it as well.

Anyway, at least the next tab in my browser is a wonderful place where people only argue if a firm B is better than a saggy E, so all is fine :)

There, that's better.
