opeth.com update

perhaps it's better in the future to keep news of releases quiet untill they are actually in the shelves ... it's idd like the Bloodbath DVD, probably a thing that will never be released. even if there are good reasons that are completely out of their hands (and for which we can only blame capitalism and music industry structure), than still it's not fair to get people so excited over something and then keep postponing it or cancelling it.

Dude, I totally see what you're saying... as die hard fans as many of us are, it's rather disappointing to see something filmed in late 2006 be set for numerous potential releases.... and continual setbacks. However, bands and record labels need to promote their releases well in advance. As much as many of us around these parts may hate to admit it... "hype" sells records. Promotion = hype. Unfortunately, shit happens sometimes when everything seems to be going along rather smoothly, and dates get pushed back.

And hey, maybe they are just holding it back to sell more CD's? Who knows... doesn't matter. I'll buy a copy of this upcoming DVD on the day of release.

This is fucking ridiculous. I purpously avoided the cd so that this much anticipated dvd would be fresh and new, and when i went to opeth.com and saw SEPTEMBER 2008 , i got a rotten feeling in my stomach. I think i speak for everyone when i say i'm fucking pist, and i think we deserve some sort of explanation..no? I must be honest with the rest of you...it's over. I will never buy the roundhouse tapes cd. I don't want it, never did, never will. Who the fuck would want a shitty cd when you could get a dvd with so much more. I thought it was ridiculous to even make a cd in the first place, afterall i initially thought this dvd was the big thing and maybe a cd afterwards would follow like with lamentations, but for some ungodly reason their really promoting this live cd. Personally, i don't get it- or agree with it, but it is what it is i suppose. I hope though at least that whoever/whatever is responsible for this delay realizes that they ruined this for me, and others too i'm sure --for this dvd will lose it's 'freshness' in my book. I will buy the dvd but it just won't be the same. It will no longer be the new opeth dvd featuring the new drummer with filmed renditions of ghost reveries tunes never before seen, etc, etc. What with the new album that may or may not be released in the mean time, and the tour with dream theater everybody will see opeth and everything they have to offer and in september when no one even cares or remembers we'll hear of this dvd , and we'll all go out and buy it and it will be a video of renditions that you now heard for a year and it will be old and outdated. This all just my opinion of course and anyone who can possibly still see the excitement in it come september..well more power to you i hope you enjoy, but for me i think this is ruined.

Get the CD... enjoy it. Get the new record next... enjoy that. When the DVD comes out... it'll seem fresh and new by then and will have extra stuff as well.

This is the way we've gotta be thinking everyone!

bummer yeh but don't dwell on it.

At this point, I wouldn't be that disappointed if they just cancelled the release. I mean, it's strange to release a live performance with a band member who will not have been with the band for a whole year at that point (Peter, of course). Regardless, this is shitty news.

I read in the latest metal hammer that new album is due in June (not confirmed as far as I know, so it might be bullshit).

But as for topic...yes, I am a bit mad myself. The whole point for getting alive into the next year was soon-to-be-released dvd, but now it's delayed :(

Crappy crappy crappy news!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn **** labels and the bull**** way they deal with things. Theres probably some stupid money issue where the label releasing the DVD thinks they might make a few extra bucks if they release it in September. Way too late to release a gig that was filmed 2 years ago when it comes out. LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The show will feel like a nostalgia gig, old members, old songs....... OLD.......

Yea that news does suck but I can understand that they dont want to release the DVD so close to the new album as it may hurt sales (if that is the reason for the delay).

You should all be glad that they even decided to film the damn show to begin with! Quit the crying girls and boys, it'll be out soon enough... it'll fucking kill... and all of you will wonder why you whined so much about it in the first place.

I think everyone here is glad they recorded the DVD.
But dont you think people have the right to express their discontent when something gets delayed like this? I do.

How can we think positive if it's the fifth time or something already that they push it back...
Only positive thing I can imagine is that they will put some thing on it about the new album, like making of or some extra live tracks from the new tours.

Im NOT buying the CD cos of this bs. Might not even buy the dvd when i think about this shit. CD and DVD should have been released on the same day, then ppl would have a fair choice. Fuck these money hungry cunts (peaceville).
