Hi guys, if anyone hasn't already checked this album out, then it is a must if you enjoy prog, metal or just brillant music in general. Its a must hear/own album of the year!!!

It was pretty good. :)

I still prefer MAYH and Damnation, but I'd say it got up there with Still Life and Blackwater Park, which is quite respectable. :D

absolutely beautiful album. I have a hard time deciding what is better between Nevermore and Opeth. Right now OPETH!

And I can't stop listening to "Baying Of The Hounds," easily my favorite song off the album. The riffs are so touching to me.

I love Prog Metal, but absolutely hate Opeth, completely boring music to me...Mediocre prog-rock with death vocals.... but that's just me probably ...
I got the feeling that if I put some Death vocals on any not-so-good progmetal album I get just the same thing...

wow.. your opinion is very interesting to say at the least.

I feel the same way, but I didn't want to state a negative opinion not for fear of a flame war, but just fear of creating a negative ambience in the thread. Opeth just doesn't do anything for me and I'd rather listen to other stuff.

Interesting opinion...This makes me interested in hearing what some of the good progmetal albums are if you could recomend them.

Thanks...

Okay.. but you have to hear the new cd.

opeth being prog metal with death vocals sounds like some old lady would say about metallica being screams and noises... :P nah, I respect your opinion and I understand that some people might have liked opeth better without the growls, but IMO it creates a perfect contrast/harmony of black and white.. or like.. death and prog, if you prefer. It also makes it a bit orgininal.

Well put.

I think it's album of the year. The section of Ghost of Perdition from 4:00 to 7:30, or so, is freakin' unbelievable.

This one had to grow on me. I didn't like it much at first. Something about the mix kinda bothers me. Overcompressed, too clean maybe? Sounds a bit thin. The songs are good though and I dig it, and damn if I can't get the main riff from the Grand Conjuration out of my head!?

Hopefully, it's stuck in yours now too! :p

If not, just picture Phil Anselmo singing 'Borderline' by Madonna. That should make you happy.

Cheers
;)

After reading some of the shit said on the Opeth forum, I have to say that it really pisses me off how people are saying that they sold out now. The music is just as good as it always was! It's not "mainstream" at all. Argh! Now I'm making myself angry, so I'll just stop.
