yeah, they'res a few, not too many progressive metal bands, at least not from waht i've found. I live out bush away from any big cities so there isn't a very big metal sceen here.

It's all happening down here at the moment, so I'm not really sure where you're coming from. Sure none of these bands are of Opeth's caliber, but shite... who is really?

I think Porcupine Tree are planning a tour here too aren't they?

Yep, they are. Also Enslaved and a crapload of other good bands at Festival Of the Dead this year. Akercocke, The Berzerker, a few excellent local bands and one really awesome band TBA... i wish i could tell you but i can't!

When it comes to live music, one mustn't forget about Metalstock aswell, which wasn;t long ago. Not to mention The Festival Of The Dead this year, aswell as the rumors of Amon Amarth touring.
I know where I come from we've got an awesome live scene happening. You just have to do some digging.

Wollongong does indeed have a good metal scene. Saw a few excellent metal bands there on Thurs night.

Amon Amarth are confirmed as far as i know.
