Orpheus - Studio diary - Drums (Ermz tracking/ mixing)

Royers are side address bro. They look like Shure SM81s to me

I thought they were these

Those are the only thing I had seen looking in that fashion :)

But those mercenaries sure look fucking sweet from the specs! Way out of my price range :(

Haha, I figure I should mention this then:

L & R overheads were being printed through a Manley Massive Passive, with a subtle 'air' boost.
C overhead was printed through a Millennia NS-EQ with a subtle 'air' boost of its own.

Snare top and bottom were printed through Distressors, and the snare top also ran through a Neve channel strip. Can't remember the model.

Room mic was a U87, running into an 1176, all buttons in (really committing with that one).

I do definitely enjoy working at this place. There is no shortage of ridiculous gear around.

EDIT: Bottom snare went through an SSL channel strip. Hats and Ride through SSL rack pres. Overheads all through API 512cs, toms through Shadow Hills 500-series preamps.

aaand... the whole thing went through a RADAR system, which provided converters for the project.... allowing us to bypass the two Aurora 16s, and multiple Digi 192s in the room.

There's also an LA-2A and Gates-Level that I really want to use in there, but I think it'll have to wait for vocal time.

Before some of the tangential comments turn the thread into a flame war, just sit back, chill and turn on the sense of humor.

I really seem to think you're missing the point. It's just immature and stupid, and doesn't make you look professional. It's just about as bad as Joe Barresi's stupid comments about Parkway Drive's guitar tone sounding like a mosquito on their last album...

It's not a joke anymore. You're just as bad as the throngs of people who ask for Pod presets and which Slate samples Joey uses by making comments like that. Jokes that are directed at people are only "humorous" when they're laughing about it too, and I guarantee you, Joey is not.

Lasse has mentioned innumerable times to stop making obnoxious OT comments about Sturgis... you're obviously prodding this forum to step closer to the edge of a bottomless fucking pit where it will spiral into nothing.

If you have nothing to say that is related to the studio content in the video, please exit the thread! I edited the video, not Ermin, he didn't post the video, I did! And it just so happened that we were having a bit of a laugh in the studio! Personally, I think the 2 seconds of joking aren't even worth mentioning, and I don't want my thread deleted because you have your undies all bunched up!

So again, please leave the thread if your comments are only going to be about the insignificant parts of the video!

Contact lasse if you feel this thread is inappropriate if you wish! But I'm pretty sure no one had posted anything bashing Joey or anyone!

So back on topic :)

Cheers dude!!! I'll definitely keep the diaries going!
Next will be guit and bass :) I bought some nice gear to track that through woo!!

sick music and video, but tone down on faggotry? because yaaa know, even andy and staub use slate

so uh, idk, keep up with the holier then thou attitude!

Sorry to be contributing to the off topicness of this thread, but plus one to this.

I see this type of attitude with every "metal" band in the Melbourne scene.
Its ridiculous, and one of the main reasons IMO why Melbourne "metal"(I am excluding core bands) don't ever do fucking shit and are left in the dust when it comes to shows and fans by the Melbourne core scene.
No offense by the way, just the way I see the current state of the scene in Melbourne.

Keen on hearing this when its all finished and keen as fuck to see more video blogs!
Get your self a real camera!
I'd offer mine, but I live too far away from the city and I'm too broke at the moment to even afford a train fair to the city to give it to you hahahaha.

:yow: Epic gear-boner over here. I'm really looking forward to the next studio update!

Not actually sure when the next video update will happen, and if so... whether it will be quite as interesting. From what I gather Chris and the guys are tracking the rest at home, which as you might imagine has substantially less gear than this crazy place. Maybe we'll get a few shots of reamping the Mark IV? who knows...

If you want to borrow my Dual Rectum let me know.

Selling off my gear haven't sold it yet.

I appreciate the offer very much dude! If it turns out the Mark IV isn't working! I'll hit you up on the offer for sure!

The next studio diary will just be some guitar and bass tracking, but we use the Mark IV for monitoring anyways, it's a feel thing! The comfort of playing through your own gear in stead of the sterile VST thing you know?

So it can still be interesting I hope! :p

While I do love you greg cause after all you are NY'er, sometimes you (and I) get a bit touchy on things.

It was very much a joke, and a very noticeable one. Did something on this hit too close to home for you? It wasnt a dig on JS per say but more a dig on the bullshit thats been going on here for almost 2 years.

So that being said ..... I still LOVE that fucking avatar :)

Ermz ... did I ever tell you how much I fucking hate you for being able to record with such great gear! I FUCKING HATE YOU

(FYI Greg that was a joke.... see what I did there?)

I gotta admit, that split the sides a little!
Honestly, it seriously must be an Aussie thing! we can pretty much laugh about everything and not get to bogged down with bullshit and what not. I honestly rather remain this way instead of getting overly touchy about stuff! I mean really... It's always WAY better when you can joke about shit that just goes overboard! :hotjump:
