College should be free. FUCK student loans. I'm still paying for when I went to college in 1994.

The only thing worse than paying for a student loan wayy long after college, is paying for a student loan and you are not working in the field you went to school for in the first place!!!! I went to electronics college, and I now drive a forkilift, but I am making damned near the same amount if I was a tech. Then there is my wife, went to school to be a spanish teacher (and she is Korean, go figure) and she is a para for the 5th grade!!! Thank god there are a ton of Mexicans around here otherwise she would totally be wasting her education.:erk:

Thankfully, I use my degree every day. One of my best friends, on the other hand, isn't doing anything with her degree. She has a BA in Art-Painting, and is an admin assistant. Of course, there's not too much one can do with a degree in Painting.

I haven´t left, it´s just hard to keep up from another continent. Nice to know I´m missed somewhere :D

A few quick random thoughts from Chile:

1) Apparently, in Chile, the lines on the road are only suggestions.
2) It´s one thing to know how to ask where the bathroom is in Spanish, it´s a whole other thing to know what the hell the other person is saying when he answers you
3) The Simpsons were right...toilets do flush backwards here

I'm paying my student loan and I didn't even finish! My timing being what it is, I got pregnant and married (in that order) instead. I don't regret my decisions, but I'd feel a lot better about writing that check every month if I had a bit more to show for it. I can't even say if I were to go back that I would stay with that major, AND nothing else really jumps out at me. I've pondered taking a class here and there, but I need some kind of direction. Oh well.

College will be free the day professors, deans, AA's, janitors, landscapers, maintenance workers, cafeteria workers, librarians and everyone else work for free, get all their supplies for free, get all the buildings for free, etc. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Rated 5 so far. Mostly like water (which isn´t necessarily bad in the heat), but my favorite so far has been Kunstmann (though I keep wanting to pronounce it Kuntsmann  )

It´s weird going into a supermarket here. They sell everything in bags instead of bottles or jars, like big bags of ketchup, jam, mayo, sour cream. And milk doesn´t have to be refridgerated until AFTER it´s opened...they sel it off the shelves at room temperature. I can´t get my head around that.

Took in a soccer game while we were here (for the South American equivalent of the European champions cup tournament, so it was a pretty big game)...we sat in the "sane" section where people seemed to actually watch the game, but man, you should have seen the "insane" section. The refs were escorted on and off the field by heavily armored guards, and the Mexican fans were protected by a giant fence. At the end of the game, the Mexican fans were advised to wait 2 hours before exitting the stadium for their own safety (especially since the Mexican team won the game).
