He's excellent. A student of Satriani, he brought classical guitar to metal. I don't know if he was the first but he's definately one of the best.

It's sad to see such talent go wasted on such mediocrity.

Ritchie Blackmore brought classical to metal IMO but Randy Rhoads (before Kirk ever incorporated it himself) perfected it and did it flawless because he didnt just play fast classical influenced metal he also knew when not to play it fast something Yngwie and his imitators never learned... anyways Kirk is ok... i used to like his playing alot especially on the first 3 Metallica albums and in particular on the Ride the Lightning album but him moving away from Modes and classical influence has bore me and his constant use of Wah Wah's as well...

To me, he's the only person from Metallica who dosn't deserve a kick in the face right now. When I saw the "Some Kind Of Monster" movie (documentry on metallica's St. Anger) just to get a good laugh. Kirk was the only one who wanted to actually make solos in the album.

Kirk Hammet is really good guitarist who deserves to make a solo career.

Very wrong. Dave's solos are much more complex and inventive. Kirk is good but never great, whereas Dave is great. He has extreme talent. And he also has writing ability that James can drool over. He shouldn't ever sing, though.
