Alot of people are helpless. Alot of people. Think about it a little bit.

speed said:That's true; but, thats just the nature of humanity. Its the same in the GLobal Warming example and countless other things: we know we are fucking the earth up, or killing things for our own end, but we do it anyway; and we will keep on doing it until we can no longer.
judas69 said:Ignorance, complacency and a general lack of empathy is what's wrong with the world today.
Speed, did you get zombified this past weekend?

DeviousDVO said:True - but people hurting other people is how it's always been and will always be . It's just human nature , I guess . Animals , on the other hand , do nothing to harm us . We take advantage of the fact that we're superior to them and use their skins for our own selfish needs . I can't help but be bothered by this . I have pets and I know how wonderful they are . It just ... bothers me .
speed said:Ah, i understand. I suppose I take a very anthropomorphic view of the world. I also accept this savage nature of humankind. I;m not promoting it, I just understand it.
DeviousDVO said:Yea , sadly enough I understand it too . I just wish we could leave the innocent out of it .

judas69 said:It's pretty easy to accept sitting back in your warm sofa with a beer in hand, right?
judas69 said:My point is .. you lack empathy, and it's very easy (almost hypocritical) to just sit back and accept anothers pain when you're not the one feeling it ..when you're not the one being skinned alive. It goes to show you really don't understand, if you did .. if you were in that position, you'd be pretty convinced otherwise.

It goes to show you really don't understand, if you truely did .. if you were in that position, you'd be pretty convinced otherwise.
speed said:Mankind lacks empathy for anyone or anything one doesnt have personal or close contact with. I am the same, and no hypocrite. Do you care about the African children starving to death? Hm? If you were truly empathetic, you'd be doing something about it. But most likely you are not. So dont lecture me about empathy.
speed said:Well I'd prefer that young lass in your avatar's breast in my hand. But what is your point? I am merely admitting no matter how civilized we get, we still retain a primal nature. Our inner Ted Nugent.
judas69 said:1. One can still be empathetic, and not be in close personal contact. Susperia for example, is crying her heart out over this because she can identify with the suffering of these animals. This is what being empathetic is all about.
2. An empathetic person is also not required to make a donation to a chairty, or front a campaign either. Susperia for instance has issues with Peta and likely has not supported their fur campaign, this does not at all mean she still couldn't be empathetic to their cause.
The only requisite to experience empathy is understanding, and the ability to feel and relate.
Empathetic people cannot be in disagreement?speed said:Well I really am tiring of your sudden decision to consider me un-empathetic. COming from you, the master of feelings and empathy (especially in your relations with susperia), I find this hard to stomach.
Why you care any less for domesticated animals is your own prejudice. Animals are animals, pain and suffering is pain and suffering ..this doesn't change.speed said:Towards domesticated animals, yes, I really dont care too much.

What you've done in your previous post is wrongly tie action, in with empathy. Although you would expect action to naturally follow, there are of course many reasons why it wouldn't.
