How do get Peter's vox? Hehe, seriously, I think that's a huge part of Hypocrisy's deliciously wet sound, the space he gets on even the dirtiest growling and screaming. I want to get something like that on my mixes, any suggestions? Sounds like there is some verb, but there is a shine that might come from some really quick delay...any suggestions for starting points, guys?

I'm interested in knowing this, if there are any little tricks or something, I agree with you his vocal sound is great. Definitely a verb and probably a delay, maybe some unorthodox choice of mic or preamp?

As hypo is my fav band, I had thought of all that a lot !

first of course... peter's vox is definitely the most important part. You see, he can growl or scream with a killer voice for each type of sound.
the most important thing is that he overdubs and often have 5, 7 or maybe 10 tracks. 2 are for low growls, 2 for the melodic voice, 2 in the L/R sides, and 1 in the middle that has the highest volume.

Although, he records each line in good rythm, and I guess he comps it all together.

For high pitch screams he has a delay that is not too short.

I guess it's all natural processing, but the main thing is the choice of his growl/melodic tracks.

I find some ressemblance with Devin Townsend processing, even if devin sounds more clean and modern.

Yeah that's a cool starting point...if you listen to The Final Chapter and the self-titled Hypocrisy albums, there is this shimmering space that he gets with his vox that is different than soaking it in verb...want to know how to do that
