Petrucci vs Michael Romeo

Guys, don't be that hard... ;)

Well, this has been discussed a lot of times... and asking it on a Symphony X forum... you're going to get some biased answers. Personally: give me Romeo's shredding anyday over Petrucci's shredding, but Petrucci beats MJR on diversity and "slow" (emotional, if you want) playing.

just what we need, another one of these threads. its a good question, but it kinda goes with comparing apples and oranges IMO. also, WHY DOES IT MATTER???

You know, this topic is highly interesting, not to mention intelligent, but rather than partake in said discussion, I am going to do something less painfull like grate the top layer of skin off my dick and then rub it in salt.

I like Romeo MUCH better, since I'm not a fan of blues-based soloing. However, I must admit that Petrucci is a more diversified guitarist. But Romeo is faster!

yea, i'm with random letters and numbers sn on this, it doesn't matter who the better guitarist is for a few reasons such as: since this is a symx forum more people are gonna be biased towards saying romeo. technical skill and ability mean nothing if there's no musical value to what's being played. both guitarists are better at what they do, and what I find to be far more important than viruosity is songwriting ability. There are tons of amazing players out there (some that are probably even better than romeo and petrucci as hard as that is to believe) but only a few have the right compositional skills to back it up. roy, if you're new to the forum then sorry about the kinda harsh welcome, but this topic does come up too often.

Romeo is faster at some things, Petrucci is faster at some things. Their technical fortes lie in different fields.

Blues-based soloing? Are you on crack?

I ve seen these kind of threads thousad times but theyre always fun to discuss.
I like Romeo more. They both have some fields that theyre better then other.
