Poor Peter...

Guys...they are two 'completely' different guitarists...I like Mike's fluency. He plays a solo like he's touching a feather or something. Peter, on the other hand, is more aggresive, like his solo in Deliverance. They are both very good and talented players and they both add very much in their music with their solos. I have several solos i like...some solos i still cant play, like the solos from white cluster, still need to practice those...

Peter is good but in all honesty I prefer Mike's solos much more. Mike's solos fit Opeth better than Peters.

And while both of them are incredibly talented musicians, I think Mike is much better.

sorrrta, but Peters seem to have more of a darker side somehow(imo), and mikes seem more jazzy and such... even though their both awwesome guitarists.

I don't think you can really say who's better. Yes, Mike's solos probably fit Opeth better simpily because Mike writes all the other material. If Peter wrote most of the music then the opposite would be the case. I can see the two of them going thier oen ways in maybe five to ten years and either doing their own solo projects, or starting new bands where they are both the main creative forces.

"Forest of October" is another good trade-off solo. Mike's is awesome in a whole-lot-of-notes-real-fast kinda way, but Peter's part is equally good. I like the fact that their phrasing is so different from one another...Mike is definitely bluesier, while Peter tends to stick to fairly established scales and arpeggios - but I think they always end up fitting the song perfectly. Great soloists, both of 'em.
