Primordial - To the Nameless Dead [official thread, wit

To me, this is the kind of album that I never (yet, anyhow) get crazy urges to listen to, but when I do put it on I'm very satisfied with it. The weaker moments aren't bothering me as much, and it is a slight move in a new direction for them, however minor.

3rd or 4th overall.

edit:
1. A Journey's End
2. Spirit the Earth Aflame
3. The Gathering Wilderness
4. To the Nameless Dead

the others i never listen to

1. A Journey's End
2. Spirit the Earth Aflame
3. Storm Before Cold
4. The Gathering Wilderness = To the Nameless Dead

Never heard Imrama

I suppose more specifically
1) Journey's End
2) Nameless Dead
3) Gathering Wilderness
4) Spirit The Earth Aflame
5) Imrama
6) Storm

Note: With the exception of that between Imrama and Storm, the space between these albums is very small, as Primordial is my favorite band and all of their albums are absolutely amazing, imo (with the exception of storm which is merely very very good).

Don't bother, chances are I'll never get around to actually dowloading. I'll just wait until I actually purchase it, which will probably be next month, as I've put Primordial on priority necessity status. In fairness, To The Nameless Dead is still growing on me.

I don't understand the constant bashing of Storm. Its a great album IMO and I regularly listen to it. Its main weakness is its production IMO.

Sons of the Morrigan and Heretic's Age are classic fist-pumping Primordial easily up there with some of STEA's most anthemic moments. Fallen to Ruin is just a kick arse intensely agressive song and Hosting of the Sidhe is fantastic and unique in a very ethereal way (this song actually reminds me a lot of Bitter Harvest and An Aister Deirneach). Sun's first rays is a great acoustic song period. Cast to the Pyre and What Sleeps Within are definitely the weakest points of the album but not enough to reduce its greatness. One of my favorite albums along with everything Primordial's produced.

Any other big fans of "The Calling" off of The Burning Season EP? It's a short song but it's got some amazing melodies. Pity it's production is fairly substandard. Has Primordial ever played it live?

I saw them at Tuska (altough I was supposed to be there, but got fixed in...) and that was the best gig I've ever been. It seems the band liked it a lot too, when I read their blog.

We can also after a lot of internal wrangling announce that we will tour North America for the very first time in May of 2009. The details I can't announce yet but the line up looks solid and there are 24 dates in all, including Canada. We've been getting a lot of emails and messages on the subject this year so it is with a certain amount of satsifaction I can announce it and no little vindication that finally after all these years and only one show to our name in America we are coming back.

Well, it's about time.

I sure do hope the lineup involves some really solid bands (See: Mael Mordha, Agalloch, Novembers Doom, etc.)

I hope this is in fact their own stand alone headlining tour and not a U.S run under the Paganfest banner. The fact that it begins in May makes me fear the latter.
