Radiohead Vs Porcupine Tree

Radiohead is great and all bla bla bla but I find them so depressing in their attitude.

It s like I suffer for my art man you see ?

It is so post modern you know ( fuck Cobain for that !), yeah like my band is considered as the second coming by pseudo enlightened music critics or fans but Thom still looks like he is gonna hang himself in a cave !

Carpe Diem, Thom, Ring a bell ?

Hey Thom, grap a fucking beer and rock your ass a little !

Therefore I chose Muse, at least these guys know one thing or two about giving a rock ' n roll concert that kick your butthole.

Radiohead shows are snorefest in the making.

Keep the neurastenic, Valium, Tranxen Prozac Overdosed Thom with you.

Thank You Very Much.

But don't misunderstand me, their music IS fantastic but it lacks the rock factor to me.

Porcupine Who ???

Good Night.

I'd say it's great.. Not sure whether i'd go as far to say it's a masterpiece. I've spent many a late night listening to the whole on In Absentia.. Again, in an altered state (alcohol this time).. But i haven't done so with Deadwing..

Yeah, and it's not as "listenable" as IA, especially with that 5 minute space between the last two songs. You fall asleep somewhere near the end and wake up screaming as the bass-line to Shesmovedon comes in.

The same thing happens with the demo tracks on the first two Opeth albums.

Personally, I've never listened to Radiohead, except what I've heard on the radio, most of which I've found to be pretentious and poppy for my tastes. I gotta vote for PT.

RE: Radiohead and Pink Floyd.

My Dad has always said to me - 'As far as I can see, in all my years of listening to music, there are only 3 bands in terms of quality, importance, influence, longevity, creativity, originality and sheer greatness can claim to be the top 3 bands of al time. These bands are The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Radiohead.'

I used to not quite see what he was talking about, but... I see now that he's pretty much bang on.

what you don't seem to realize, though, is that your dad only listens to radio rock :erk:

I think you may just be trying to wind me up lol. But I would like to stress that my Dad listens to a huge variety of stuff. Lots of jazz, classical, some soulful classics. He's big on Ray Charles. He got me into Portishead. He thinks Opeth are fantastic other than the growls. I'm enjoying the album 'Drums Unlimited' by Max Roach, which he introduced me to. Only been able to hear it while I've been home, because it's on vinyl, but it's awesome.

I owe a lot of my musicality and love of music to him. Sorry, this rant was kinda pointless :p
