Radiohead Vs Porcupine Tree

Two killer bands, but there's no argument that Radiohead is like a million times more influential having released one of the most important discs of the 90's.

That said, I'm more of a PT fan than Radiohead. I simply love all of their albums and consider everything from Stupid Dream onwards a masterpiece.

radiohead definitely beats out PT on influence, inspiration and ambition

but PT may take the cake on consistancy, variation and progression.

but id like to hear the next radiohead before i can be quoted on that.

Don't get me wrong, Radiohead are VERY good, i quite enjoy listening to their music. But there's something about PT that makes them like no other

well, while radiohead have an endless number of ideas artistically, lyrically and conceptually, porcupine tree are much more talented on their instruments...maybe that appeals to you more. i know it does to some.

but this thread got me thinking...porcupine tree do have the potential to outdo radiohead. however, they will never be acknowledged by the world for doing that, since they never enjoy as much publicism as radiohead. what a shame...just like camel :(

i could never sit through more than a half Radiohead song, because of Yorke's terrribly whiny vocals. he is surely a skillful singer, but he ruins the whole music for me. i'm not a big fan of Wilson either, but i do not detest him as much as Yorke, so i'd prefer PT. musically both bands are great

That is bound to change in the coming times. Wilson having done albums with Opeth brought home many new fans for them in North America, now that they're more recognised in the US than they were before Ghost Reveries.

Radiohead carry more 'emotion' with them.. and not just one.. their music is more emotionally inspiring than any other band that I can think for. They're probably one of the very few bands in my book that deserve the fame they get.
