Radiohead Vs Porcupine Tree

I still don't get all the Tool hate. I'm going to see them this Satuday, and I can't fucking wait. I think they're an excellent band.

Personally, I think Radiohead > PT and Tool, but I gotta admit I like Tool and PT about the same.

Tool > Beatles< Manowar < R Kelly > Porcupine Tree < Cannibal Corpse = Celine DION < The Small Faces > Thelonious Monk < Chick Corea > The Berseker > Skinny Puppy < Basement Jaxx > The Spice Girls > The Supremes > Europe < Stratovarius < My Chemical Romance < The Cocteau Twins > George Michael < Slayer < Jaco Pastorious > Stefan lessard > The Budy Rich Big Band > Necrophagist

I agree with you all.

Great Thread.

Satan > George Bush Jr

^^^ You DO realise that you just said that R Kelly is better than Porcupine Tree, right? And that Celine Dion is better than PT? You were joking, right?

I'll assume that you were, because that is actually a fair point about the hopelessness of debates such as this one.

Tool would definitely be a stellar rock band if they got someone who can actually sing without irritating the complete shit out of people.

What is it about Maynards voice that irritates you so much? I happen to think his vocals are really good, as do many others. Why do you detest him so much?

I mean, look at it this way... you're obviously a HUGE Trickster fan. And so am I. And Trickster has, of late, become an excellent vocalist. But let's be honest... back in 1997, he was pretty goddamn awful. Are you honestly going to say that '97 Garm is a better vocalist than MJK? If so... why?

I'm genuinely interested.

Uh... what? He was a horrible vocalist on the first two Ulver albums? Not as diverse or powerful as Keenan by a long shot, but he definitely had a nice voice.

I'm referring to his vocals on 'William Blake' or Arcturus' 'La Masquarade Infernale', which were abysmal tbh.

It's like... he was going for what he achieved so well on 'Vowells' years later.

Fair enough, but he obviously wasn't a shit singer in 1997 if he sang well in that 1994-96 period... but even that is up to critique. I know a lot of people find the vocals on the early Ulver albums to be almost unbearably monotonous. I can see where they're coming from, but I like them nonetheless.
