Radiohead Vs Porcupine Tree

You know, I really don't care about who's more intelligent or not, the fact that everything about Yorke, the way he sings, his attitude on stage, in his videos, on pictures is all about being whiney, miserable, sad, Prozac looking etc etc etc
He never looks that he is enjoying what he is doing.

Lemmy does not approve Radiohead for lack of kicking ass, having fun, drinking booze, fucking groupies, doing meth.

Radiohead sums up the western countries generation pretty well : I feel so sad, life is so hard, I love watching my belly 24/7, I am so insecure, my feelings are creepy.

In fact, I don't see the differences between the feelings expressed in Radiohead's music that the entire Emo/Screamo plague.

Get these guys a fucking beer for Christ Sake !

Why is it that Porcupine Tree is the band that writes shit like "Shesmovedon" and that horrible fucking song about "I hated every minute I waited for your email I feel so low!!!!!111" yet you complain about Radiohead being the immature emo whiners? In an emo contest Radiohead would definitely lose to the likes of Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Novembers Doom, Katatonia, etcetcetc

Yeah, Radiohead's lyrics go far beyond emo whining bullshit! I've only heard a few songs such as Creep, Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry, and a few others over the years, but even from these I can tell that this band writes highly emotional and involving songs without falling into the narrow emo pitfalls.

"I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo"?

Hasn't everybody felt the inferior at one particular point in their lives when that actually felt 'sad'? Why is it that a particular genre of music (and/or culture) has to be separated out with a title so as to keep boxing out people now that racism is considered a serious offense? Just fucking mind your own business. If someone chooses to stay 'sad' 'depressed' or 'suicidal' all the time, then let them.. why the heck bother? Why label anything remotely negatively introspective as 'emo'? Its music... listen to it if you like it and fucking stay away if you don't.. as simple as that.

yeah it would be pretty hard to find someone else to play a drop d powerchord once every like 10 minutes

I understand that you're saying his style of playing is unorigional, but use your brain for a second and realize he did it before it became popular to tune that last string down a step and he created a sound that is unique. Tell me one guitarist that sounds like Adam that ISNT in a Tool ripoff band and I'll give you a HUGE high five. For fucks sake, he's probably the most Tool sounding member out of the whole band.

** Edit: That comment was so fucking retarded of you.

Because if someone chooses to stay that way all the time they are fooling themselves and have some serious issues. If you're sad all the time then you're keeping yourself sad because you have some other serious crap to deal with that you're avoiding.

Obviously it was a blatant trolling comment. Regardless, it would not be at all hard to find someone else to play the way he does, the guy's guitar parts are pretty damn lame on every album they've ever recorded. I never said he wasn't the first to play sludgey drop d powerchords or whatever, just that it sure wouldn't take a whole lot to find someone else to do what he does, and basically all of their guitar parts are composed of mid-paced drop d powerchords and in the key of D minor which is incredibly boring and repetitive. I can't even stand to listen to Aenima, it's like a death march of bleh. Lateralus is slightly better guitarwise. Not that Parabola is one of their best songs, but it was just such a relief to hear him actually playing something else that I enjoyed the song more than I probably should have.
