Look, nobody is going to be offended or dislike you for liking PT more than Radiohead. Your opinion is perfectly fine. However, saying Radiohead is "watered down for the masses" and not very diverse is just stupid.
I fucking LOVE Porcupine Tree. One of my favorite bands ever.
Radiohead CRUSHES them though, Kid A was so fucking wtfownroflcopter!? after what they did on OK Computer. They would've won just for having gonads that big, but the record is fucking majestic on top of that. Just like every other album and b-side release excpet Pablo Honey.

i dont even really like radiohead all that much even though i know that radiohead is a lot more talented and influential and important than porcupine tree... Ask Steven Wilson and im sure he wouldnt even think of himself on the same level as them...but if the question is who would I rather listen to on a long term basis i would pick porcupine tree

I'd say it's great.. Not sure whether i'd go as far to say it's a masterpiece. I've spent many a late night listening to the whole on In Absentia.. Again, in an altered state (alcohol this time).. But i haven't done so with Deadwing..

Actually a band with such a high calibre status as both bands, they probably do get deserved to be mentioned with each other. They have almost done the same thing, by doing exactly what they want how they want it. Sure, it appeals to a whole different generation aswell as the current generation. But who knows how people will look at radiohead in the future.

yeah so what im saying is pink floyd are probably a bigger band now than they were at the time. So maybe it could be the same for radiohead later. I dunno. Its possible.

I wasnt on about whos a better band in terms of personal preference. Im Just saying that maybe one day radiohead will do for our generation what pinkfloyd have done for the last.

it's pretty clear he was asking for personal preferences considering a) the immediate context and b) the topic of this thread

The day i vote Radiohead is the day that Mikael joins CoF. PT all the way. I do love Radiohead though... PT... Steven Wilson... nuff said
