RE: n00berz

Also, I think a more effective response to shitty threads.....for example the really obnoxious recommendation ones (non-specific) is to answer whatever question, and then give a friendly point to the "the thread where you talk about music you like" thread. That's actually constructive. Whether or not you like the poster's tastes, a "living colour lolz," "fuck you twat," "fag," or whatever only attracts a fuck you response and insures that they will probably stay since they're getting so much attention, albeit negative.

*Make sure that the bands you want to talk about on Ultimate METAL Forum actually ARE metal, not *core.

I don't like that. Some -core bands actually are related to metal, and a rule like that is just too obnoxious and unspecific, and it requires having to read in between the lines. Erik's encompassed that already and did it better I think.

I have been listening to metal for a while so i know what im talking about, I just found this site one day and thought it looked cool. Ive only made the Varg Vikernes thread so Im not one of the stupid ass fagets on this site.

Here is one:

Type in proper English. We do not want to see your posts looking like this "OMG COB AND KoF are leik totly uber-1337 d00d." It is annoying and hurts the brains of those who actually put time into making their posts look decent and readable.

-If someone makes a thread about a band you don't like, don't respond to it. That is much more effective than bashing it

- OMG, lolz and !!!!1!!!1!!! are really annoying and won't get you much respect, no matter how valid your opinion is.

I think concerts should not be posted as threads.
I think there have been enough recomendation threads, no more.
and for all the little imature fucks on UM to stop being dumb shits.

The idea behind your first preposal is good, but UM is ultimatly a discussion forum. It will make this place very stale if the only people allowed to post in a thread are those who enjoy the band. People that dislike the band should be allowed to say so, but not flame those who dislike the band. It would also be nice if they were to support their statement with reasons as to why they don't like the band as to open up new possibilites for discussion. That way we will have less shitty two-bit topics laying around.

Yes, but most everyone does flame when people disagree.

(you were talking to me, right?)

Yes, my post was directed towards you.

I do know that flaming is a problem here, and that it does occur quite often when people disagree with each other, but saying that someone can't post in a thread when they don't like the band just because flames typically occur does not mean it can be outlawed all together.

I would love to see intelligent disagreements. I'm rather sick of the "they suck you faggot get out!" posts.

Yes, that would be very nice, however look at the typical poster here. It isn't going to happen unless you hogtie them to a board and whip half to death them with the own wang. Even then we would still only have a 50% sucess rate as there are bound to be those who enjoyed the "treatment."

BTW Deron, do you run this site out of your own pocket?

I think we, as a community should construct lists of bands commonly asked for in recommendation threads. Make a Thrash list, a Black list, a Death list, etc., and anyone can make specialized lists if they like. Then just put all of those in a sticky.
