I think Hawkwind was the most interesting (not the best) band of the 70's and they still are!

i say all this, im more int the 80's stuff, but without those pioneers we wouldnt have the likes of motley crue and twisted sister, plus they ruled ne way, also im glad to see so many of em still goin too, so i can see em now as i werent born back then!

I have been having a Bad Company sort of moment lately.
Paul Rodgers voice is a work of art. Obviously not metal but hey this is a 70's discussion.
AC/DC released some brilliant stuff-Overdose anyone off Let There Be Rock.
Done exceedingly well by Exodus on Fabulous Disaster.
Rush obviously- Hemispheres is still awesome

I'm pretty standard as far as 70s shit goes. Priest, Maiden (though, I know their first album didn't come out till 80, they're still technically a 70s band, since they were playing a ton of shows prior to recording), Kiss, and Cooper.

UFO had their times, they either had some really excellent rock sings or stuff that was "fluff." They were never a very consitsent band, but you can a make some killer compilations from their "good" material...
