One listen in, just starting the second... A bit difficult to form an opinion on one listen! I like it though... the last three songs in particular. The Talisman gave me shivers, so did a bit of Wild Wind. El Dorado is the worst song, thank God! The long songs didn't feel as long as they are, which is a good sign! Not loving the production much, Kevin Shirley's mixing sounds pretty bloody amateur at times...

Toltally agree. Execpt I didn't notice any production flaws:p

Guitar levels and tones jump up and down really suddenly, there are some really obvious vocal drop-ins, loads of the solos are WAY too quiet, the vocals need some reverb and there are moments when he really should have got Bruce to do another take... But fuck it, it is what it is and it's not going to change I'm going to try and get over it and enjoy the music. It sounds better than Virtual XI and The X Factor so let's be thankful for small mercies...

Second listen... I like it a lot :D Especially the second half... I really like The Talisman and When The Wild Wind Blows is bloody brilliant. It's weird, it sounds like it should be on Virtual XI which isn't a great album but it's like all the good things about that album in one epic song. I even think Blaze would have sounded great singing on it!

Isle of Avalon on now, like this one aswell. I'm smiling. I love Iron Maiden albums! Hooray! :D

Make a...... Happy face like Joe? :D

I got The Final Frontier on Saturday.

First impressions are reasonably good. The first song though is, in my opinion, a perfect example as to why Iron Maiden aren't that high in my rankings. They have a pretty good, dark, heavy, eerie intro and then go and stick what I consider a rock song onto it. The Final Frontier song would have been fine on its own. Stick something else onto Satellite 15.

Ah well as Joe says its here now and there's piss all we can do. But I do think its a reasonably good album.

Yeah, there is no point at all in those two being joined together... but I like the fact that there's an intro this time. Breaks with the whole Wickerman/Wildest Dreams/Different World predictable 4 minute rocker opening thing they've been doing for a decade...

This beauty should arrive at the local store at any time:
