Recent purchases

A whole bunch of releases from the wonderfully bizarre label, Paradigm Recordings:
Aksu - The Way to Destroy and Create Things
Gamardah Fungus - Hidden by the Leaves
Hallvardur - Las Casa/Lifsblomid
Shabda - The Electric Bodhisattva
Urna - Nemeton

As well as a few other albums:
Eye of Nix - Moros
Father Murphy - Croce
Integrity - Suicide Black Snake
Jute Gyte - Ressentiment
Spectral Lore - III

Any of that stuff good? I haven't heard of any of those bands except for Spectral Lore.

Whoops, so sorry about the delay in response; I haven't been on the forum much recently.

Anyway, I actually can't comment on the Paradigm stuff yet – Gamardah Fungus was a pre-order and I purchased everything together, so I haven't heard any of them beyond the samples the label put on their site.

(Note: If you're looking strictly for metal, this probably isn't the label to go to. They do occasionally release metal, but they mostly specialize in avant-garde and ambient works.)

As for the other releases:

Eye of Nix is growing on me. The music is mostly a doom and black metal hybrid, but they utilize operatic vocals. It's an odd one for sure, but I think they may be on to something.

The Father Murphy album, while interesting, isn't grabbing me as much as their past work. They're an Italian duo that makes bizarre almost psychedelic-sounding music: Sometimes the sounds are dark and borderline sinister, sometimes soothing and peaceful so if you're looking to weird out your neighbors, Croce is a good choice.

Integrity is an infamous metallic hardcore group, been around for over twenty years, and you'll know pretty quickly whether or not they're for you: Suicide Black Snake. I'm really enjoying it, but I also generally like everything they release. One of the few hardcore bands that continues to do interesting things within the genre.

Jute Gyte can be trying in the best way. It's a one man, black metal outfit – but not like the ones that probably come to mind when you hear "one man black metal" – who plays demanding, dense, manic, microtonal music. If you want to scare those neighbors you weirded out earlier, Ressentiment (or any other Jute Gyte release) is for you.

You mentioned you know the Spectral Lore, so all I'll say is that I fucking love it. Probably one of my favorite albums from 2014.
